Chocolate lovers love the Chocolate Lovers Festival, scheduled for Jan. 26, 2020, at Unionville High School.

Tickets are now on sale for the 2020 Chocolate Lovers’ Festival benefitting the United Way of Southern Chester County. The 2020 event is scheduled for Jan.26 and will have a new location — Unionville High School. Tickets are on sale now at www.KennettChocolate.org. VIP ticket holders gain early entrance at noon. General admission opens at 1 p.m. Additional tasting tickets are available. Parking is free at our new location. The enormously popular “Year of Living Chocolate!” raffle is back. At $10 per ticket or $20 for three, you can be entered in a raffle to win a chocolate dessert monthly from different area bakers and chocolatiers starting in March of 2020. Raffle tickets are available online through the ticketing store as well as being sold at the festival.

West Chester University presents Super Science Saturday for Girls on Saturday, Nov. 9, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.  The event is at the Schmucker Science Center, 730 S. Church Street. Super Science Saturday is a free one-day STEM workshop for girls in grades 6-12 who get to spend the day with women scientists talking about careers, doing hands-on experiments, and seeing how fun science can be. Sunday, Nov. 10,  a day of patriotic music on the campus of Neumann University courtesy of the Delaware County Symphony.

The Delaware County Symphony celebrates Veterans Day with a special concert focused on the ever-popular music that celebrates the American Armed Forces including “America The Beautiful,” “Armed Forces Salute,” and “American Patrol,” among other patriotic pieces. The concert is on Sunday, Nov. 10 at 3 p.m. in the Meagher Theater at Neumann University. Tickets at the door. $15 regular-$12 seniors. www.dcsmusic.org.

The UHS 2019 Art Gala is next week, Friday and Saturday, Nov. 15 and 16. The featured student artist is Sophia Mayer. Her work will be on display along with more than 70 local artists at the 44th annual gala at Unionville High School. Hours are 6-9 p.m. on Friday and 11 a.m. to 4b p.m. on Saturday. Admission is free and Friday evening includes delicious appetizers.

The Chester County Historical Society will be hosting the West Chester Wedding Guide Showcase on Sunday, Nov. 10, from noon to 3 p.m. Tickets are $5 and available here. http://wcweddingguide.com

Andy Wyeth's "Oliver's Cap" will be auctioned off at Christie’s American Art sale on Nov. 20 in New York.

A painting by Andrew Wyeth depicting his hometown of Chadds Ford will be offered at Christie’s American Art sale on Nov. 20 in New York. The painting is titled “Oliver’s Cap.” Proceeds from the sale of Wyeth’s painting and other works in the Disney Miller Collection will benefit causes close to the family’s heart through the late couple’s eponymous charitable fund. The auction also includes other works from Andrew Wyeth and his father N.C. Wyeth, many of which drew on immediate surroundings including Chadds Ford. The auction exhibition is free and open to the public at Christie’s Rockefeller Center Galleries in New York from Saturday, Nov. 16-19.

It's a jazz night at Uptown! on Nov. 21.

The Jazz Cocktail Hour at Uptown! will be twice as nice this month when two renowned artists perform together Nov. 21 at 6:30 p.m. West Chester born and Louisiana bred trumpeter Paul Giess and his quintet will be accompanied by the vocalist V. Shayne Frederick for a program of New Orleans inspired grooves, modern hymns and pieces from V. Shayne’s new album “Lovesome.” The concert will be held in the theater’s intimate salon space, The Univest Room, where both artists have played for sold-out audiences before. Uptown! The Glen Mills-Thornbury Rotary Club will hold a Designer Bag Bingo event beginning at 7 p.m., Friday, Nov. 22 at Neumann University’s Bruder Gym in Aston. Doors open at 6 p.m. Tickets are $35 and are available at Eventbrite.com. The keyword is Glen Mills Bingo. Extra Bingo sheets are available for $5.

The Brandywine Battlefield State Park will celebrate Patriot’s Day on Saturday, Nov. 23 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Nov. 28, Thanksgiving morning,  is the seventh annual Turkey Trot at Garnet Valley High School. The race — beginning at 9 a.m. — will consist of a 5K run/walk and a 1-mile paved walk/roll to enable racers of all ages and abilities to participate. A portion of the proceeds will benefit Safe Harbor of Chester County, a local organization that provides food and shelter to those in need.
