Roadwork for July 1 through July 7

PennDOT has announced the following road projects, which are weather-dependent and could affect residents in the greater Chadds Ford area during the week of July 1 through July 7. Motorists are urged to allow extra time if they are traveling through one of the construction zones.

PennDOT says drivers should expect delays in construction areas.
  • Beginning onThursday, July 7, andFriday, July 8, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., lane restrictions are scheduled on Unionville Wawaset Road between Doe Run Road and Bridge Road in Pocopson, Newlin and East Marlborough townships, for milling.

Additional state highways scheduled for resurfacing under this contract include:
·         Route 926 between U.S. 202 and Cheney Road in Westtown and Thornbury townships;
·         Birmingham Road between Old Wilmington Pike and Route 52 in Birmingham and East Bradford townships;
·         High Street between U.S. 202 and Route 52 in West Chester Borough and West Goshen Township;
·         Westtown-Thornton Road from the Delaware County line to Route 926 in Thornbury Township;
·         Fernhill Road between Phoenixville Pike and Paoli Pike in West Goshen Township;
·         Lenape-Unionville Road from just west of Red Lion Road to just west of Route 52 in Pocopson Township;
·         Red Lion Road from just south of Lenape-Unionville Road to Marlboro Road in Pocopson Township; and
·         Kaolin Road between Ewart Road and Red Clay Creek Bridge in New Garden and Kennett townships.

  • Tree removal will cause lane restrictions Thursday, July 6, and Friday, July 7, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., on Embreeville Road between Stargazer Road and Cannery Road in Newlin Township.
  • Construction is scheduled to begin on Sunday, July 9, on a project to improve travel and safety at the intersection of Gap Newport Pike and Newark Road in New Garden Township. Lane restrictions with flaggers will be in place on Sunday, July 9 from 6 p.m. until 6 a.m., and on Monday, July 10 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Newark Road between Gap Newport Pike and Buck Toe Road for milling and paving operations. The project is scheduled to be completed in spring 2018.
  • Daytime and nighttime travel restrictions are scheduled for Wednesday, July 5, through Wednesday, July 12, from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. as Brandywine Creek Road is scheduled to close weekdays between Harveys Bridge Road and Embreeville Road in Newlin Township, for drilling work. During construction, Brandywine Creek Road motorists will be detoured over Strasburg Road and Embreeville Road.
  • Line painting is expected to cause slow traffic in East and West Marlborough townships on July 5 through 7 between the hours of 9:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.
  • There will be lane restrictions on Concord Road in Concord Township between Vernon Lane and Cross Keys Drive between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. on June 26 and 27.
  • Detours remain in effect on Route 926 because of work on the bridge over the Brandywine Creek between Pocopson and Birmingham townships. The bridge remains closed for repair through Sept. 1.
  • Periodic lane restrictions on Route 322 between Route 1 and Clayton Park Drive continue through Oct. 20 as part of the reconstruction and road widening of Route 322.
  • Lane closures on Brandywine Creek Road between Green Valley and Powell roads in Newlin Township continue indefinitely for barrier installation.
