CCArts is having its annual Artisan Show, Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 21 and 22.

The Center for the Creative Arts will transform into a marketplace of fine handcrafted gifts during its annual Artisan Show, Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 21 and 22. The times are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday. Twenty-two artists, the majority of which are Delaware-based artists, will be selling handmade fine art and crafts including ceramics, jewelry, felting, turned wood, collage, leatherwork, paper crafts, painting, and more. A raffle table with donated handcrafted items will help raise money for CCArts. Olé Tapas Food Truck will be on site both days and CCArts will have light refreshments and beverages each day. A $5 entry fee covers both days. Members and children under 10 are free. CCArts is at 410 Upper Snuff Mill Road in Yorklyn.

Due to the rise in COVID cases across the state, the Pennsylvania State Police at the Media barracks canceled its child safety seat inspection planned for Nov. 23 and 24.

The Philadelphia Orchestra presents a free online concert honoring poll workers and ballot counters at noon on Friday, Nov. 13. The program will feature performances of “My Country, ’Tis of Thee,” Elton John’s “Philadelphia Freedom,” “America, the Beautiful,” and more, and will be available at www.philorch.org and www.facebook.com/philorch

Chester County Historical Society's Holidays Outdoor Market is Nov. 20 and 21.

Chester County Historical Society will hold its Home for the Holidays Outdoor Market from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Nov. 20 and 21 at the CCHS Terrace and Evans Alley. Visitors can shop the locally curated market for original items, including freshly cut greens.

The Grand in Wilmington turning on the lights around town with a new holiday activity — The Winter in Wilmington Drive-Thru Holiday Light Show. It opens Black Friday, Nov. 27, and runs through Sunday, Jan. 3, on Wilmington’s Riverfront, except Christmas and New Year’s Eve and day. It will be at the outfield parking lot at Frawley Stadium. The Chester County Art Association is changing its membership calendar. This change will help us reduce costs and staff time in the future. CCAA plans to reopen in the spring/summer, so please consider keeping your membership current as well as supporting CCAA beyond your annual membership. Memberships purchased before June 1, 2020, will end on Dec. 30, while memberships purchased on or after June 1, 2020, will be valid through Dec. 31, 2021.

Take a stroll through history on Dec. 5, 12, and 17.

It’s a Holiday History Stroll courtesy of the Chester County History Center. Walkers can explore 200 years of Christmas tradition in West Chester borough with a walking tour. Visit West Chester's early churches, department stores, and cultural sites, learning about what "Christmas" meant to the people of West Chester from the late 1700s to the early 1900s. At the end of the tour, we will toast the season with a festive libation. The walking tours are held Dec. 5 and 12 at 11 a.m., and again Dec. 17 at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $12 for members. The Wilmington Ballet at The Academy of the dance offers a virtual Nutcracker experience. Beginning Dec. 7 and running through Dec. 12, sugarplums will dazzle, mice and soldiers will battle, and snowflakes will swirl amid a mix of pre-recorded and live videos. The ballet will be performed in venues across the Greater Wilmington area, including The Delaware Art Museum and The Playhouse on Rodney Square.
