Avondale Barracks

State police from the Avondale barracks arrested a 39-year-old woman from Kennett Square on DUI charges following a traffic stop in Birmingham Township on Feb. 26. They made the stop at 1:08 a.m. on S. Creek Road north of its intersection with Street Road. Police did not identify the driver.

State police also arrested a 29-year-old man from Arlington, Va. for DUI on Feb. 25. That arrest was made at 10:49 p.m. in the 300 block of Kennett Pike.

A 58-year-old man from West Chester was arrested for DUI on Creek Road in Pocopson Township on Feb. 24. The arrest was made at 8:24 p.m.

Ulta Beauty, in East Marlborough Township, was robbed on Feb. 24. The report said the suspect threatened an employee and fled with stolen merchandise. The incident happened at 7:20 p.m.

A 30-year-old Wilmington man was arrested for DUI in Kennett Township shortly after midnight on Feb. 24. Police said they made a traffic stop after observing traffic violations on Kennett Pike at Deer Pond Lane.

Police arrested a 41-year-old man from Exton on DUI charges on Feb. 17. They made the arrest on E. Baltimore Pike at Lenape Road in Kennett Township at 8:49 p.m.

Police said Frank Alcaraz, 54, of Wilmington, was arrested and charged with DUI, disorderly conduct, and other related offenses, following an incident in which the reporting party was concerned he would attempt to leave the residence due to an argument that ensued. The incident occurred on Feb. 21, 2023, at approximately 8:28 p.m., in the 600 block of W. Mulberry Street. Officers made contact with Alcaraz at the residence and said he exhibited signs of intoxication. Officers gave him a courtesy ride to a nearby hotel to stay the night. At 10:30 p.m. Officers were then dispatched to a similar incident, involving the same two subjects. Alcaraz fled in his vehicle and a traffic stop was conducted. He consented to a chemical test of his breath, which resulted in a blood alcohol level of 0.309 percent.

Todd Yanacek, 30, of Newark, was arrested and charged with DUI and related offenses, following a traffic stop for failing to stop at a posted stop sign, police said. The incident occurred on Feb. 25, at approximately 9:28 p.m., near Birch Street and S. Walnut Street. After making the stop, officers said they observed indicators suggesting intoxication, and field sobriety tests showed impairment. Yanacek submitted to a chemical test of his breath, resulting in a blood alcohol level of 0.147 percent, and was transported to Central Booking for arraignment, according to the report.
