Police Log Nov. 20: Fugitive caught, DUIs, threats

A Louisiana man was arrested for DUI in East Marlborough Township on Nov. 9. State police from the Avondale barracks identified the man as Andrew Davis, 31, of Denham Springs, La. According to the report, Davis struck another vehicle and fled, but was found. The accident happened on Schoolhouse Road at 9:13 p.m.

Police said Dawn Nixon, 44, of Norristown, was arrested for driving under the influence of a controlled substance in Concord Township on Oct. 20. According to the report, troopers responded to a call for a possible overdose in the area of Route 202 and McComb Avenue at 2:18 p.m. Nixon was found unresponsive while the 2014 Chevrolet Equinox was in gear. EMS personnel revived her and she was taken to Riddle Hospital for treatment.

Following an Oct. 23 traffic stop on Route 202, Stephan Onorato, 23, of Wilmington, was found to be in possession of a small amount of marijuana and a glass smoking pipe, a police report said.

A 59-year-old man at Brinton Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center was the victim of theft on Sept. 28. Police said the man’s wallet, with driver’s license, credit and debit cards and $100 in cash had been stolen.

Police are investigating two thefts at the Mainline Health facility on Route 1 in Concord Township on Nov. 2. Someone picked the lock on a locker and stole wallets of two victims. One of the stolen credit cards was used at several stores in King of Prussia.

A 60-year-old woman from Wilmington faces charges of making terroristic threats to an employee at Team Toyota in Concord Township. Police said Louise Berna left approximately 37 messages expressing dissatisfaction with the service and what she hopes will happen to the victim.

Someone broke into a car parked at the Comfort Inn & Suites on Route 1 in Concord Township and stole an HP computer valued at $1,000. The incident happened on Nov. 7.

Someone broke into a vehicle in Olde Ridge Village and stole a set of jumper cables on Nov. 8. The cables are valued at $50; window damage is valued at $250.

On the same date and also in Olde Ridge Village, someone broke into another vehicle and stole a $1,200 laptop, a $40 laptop bag and a U.S. passport.

Someone stole a Delaware license plate from a vehicle parked at 101 Applied Bank Boulevard on Nov. 8.

Southern Chester County Regional Police

Southern Chester County Regional Police, on Sunday, Nov. 10, arrested Salvador Avalos-Baeza, who was wanted by the SCCRPD on charges of burglary, theft, and related offenses, a report said. A warrant for his arrest had been issued on Aug. 3, in connection with the forced entry burglary of a mushroom business, in New Garden Township. According to the report, a patrol officer spotted a vehicle believed to be driven by Avalos-Baeza. When officers attempted a vehicle stop in a gas station parking lot on W. Cypress Street, Avalos-Baeza fled in his vehicle, colliding with the front end of one police vehicle and intentionally backing into another to avoid apprehension, police said. After the collisions, Avalos-Baeza again fled the scene westbound on Baltimore Pike, with officers in pursuit. The vehicle eventually came to a stop. Avalos-Baeza ignored several commands and began to actively resist the officers when they attempted to take him into custody. After a brief struggle, Avalos Baeza was placed under arrest. He was charged with aggravated assault, resisting arrest, fleeing or attempting to elude police, recklessly endangering another person, possession of a controlled substance, charges related to leaving the scene of an accident, and several traffic offenses.
