Kennett Square Police Department

On June 1, borough police filed a criminal complaint against Matthew McDermott, 37, of Newark, for an incident that happened 11 days earlier, a report said. According to police, charges include fleeing and eluding and other related offenses. The report said that on May 21, at about 8:31 p.m. officers saw a blue and white motor scooter with no tag at Birch and Walnut streets. A traffic stop was initiated but the operator, later identified as McDermott, eluded the police and fled the area.

Police said a June 2 domestic disturbance led to the arrest of Yoni Lopez-Aguirre, 34, of Kennett Square. The report said Lopez-Aguirre pulled the emergency brake of the victim’s vehicle while the vehicle was in motion. This caused the operator to lose control of the vehicle as it veered into the oncoming lane of travel. A child was in the car and police charged the suspect with recklessly endangering another person and disorderly conduct.
