The the Curtis Symphony Orchestra takes the stage to kick off Longwood Gardens Summer Performance Series on May 12.

Tickets are now on sale for Longwood Gardens Summer Performance Series. The series kicks off on May 12 with a performance by the Curtis Symphony Orchestra featuring an evening of Bartók, Tchaikovsky, and Wei’s Curtis-commissioned Awakening Lion...all amid a picturesque Meadow Garden backdrop. A total of 16 performances with a variety of artists will go through September.

The event was to have been this weekend but has been postponed until April 15.

The Brandywine Valley SPCA's Fetch Some Fun playgroup adoption event scheduled for this weekend has been postponed until April 15 due to stormy weather in the forecast this Saturday.

There will be a free pop yoga class, Yoga in the Park, on Saturday, April 1 from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. in the Concord Township Park on Smithbridge Road. Bring a mat, water bottle, and a friend.

The Man of La Mancha rides into town at the Delaware Theatre Company on April 12.

Delaware Theatre Company will close out its season April 12-30 with a production of The Man of La Mancha. The show features adventure, romance, and rousing classics like “The Impossible Dream” and “I, Don Quixote.” Set during the Spanish Inquisition, Man of La Mancha’s Cervantes renames himself “Don Quixote” and embarks on an epic quest to right all wrongs in the world. The Delaware County Symphony will present “Peter and the Wolf” on Sunday, April 16 at 3 p.m. The final Chamber Series concert of the season for the DCS will feature a medley of light-hearted instrumental and vocal selections including music for solo cello, fife and drum, and duo sopranos. The runner-up to our Youth Concerto Competition, Kai Freeman, will also be performing the first movement of the Saint-Saens Violin Concerto No. 3. The program will conclude with Prokofiev's beloved children's classic, “Peter and the Wolf.” Tickets — at $15 for adults and $12 for students and seniors —  can be purchased for this fun, family-friendly event here. The concert will be held at Neumann University’s Meagher Theatre.

A sweet-tasting fundraiser for the Chester County Community Foundation happens next Tuesday, March 28.

The Chester County Community Foundation is hosting its annual Sweet Charity dessert competition and fundraiser on Tuesday, March 28 beginning at 4 p.m.  The event will be held at the Chester County Food Bank, 650 Pennsylvania Avenue in Exton. Guests will network, taste, and judge their favorite desserts created by a plethora of dessert chefs.

Beginning April 5, the Brandywine Museum of Art will kick off a new season of public tours of the N. C. Wyeth House & Studio and Andrew Wyeth Studio — both National Historic Landmarks owned and operated by the Museum. Guided tours of these properties will be offered to the public at select times, Wednesday–Sunday, through Nov. 19.
