The reconstruction of Hank's Place is on track for a reopening late this summer.

Reconstruction continues for Hank’s Place and a beam signing is planned for the Route 1 and Creek Road site this Thursday, April 18. The beam signing allows those interested to sign the final beam before it’s lifted into place atop what will be the new Hank’s Place.

The foundation has been poured and the pylons are in place, allowing the new building to be up out of the flood plain per FEMA requirements. The Sept. 1, 2021, flood from Hurricane Ida left the old building unusable. According to Katie Young, who owns the restaurant with her husband Anthony Young, the restaurant could be open for business late this summer. Reconstruction began in December of 2023.

“We are truly grateful to the community for their steadfast support and wanted to give people the opportunity to leave a mark in the history of the establishment,” said Katie Young in a press release.

The new structure will be 3,009 square feet with an outdoor deck and, according to architect Tom Dever, there will be more of an open feel, and a porch with an open fireplace on the creek side will “provide a new opportunity for alfresco dining.”

The beam signing is planned from 3-6 p.m. this Thursday.
