Chadds Ford in brief

Chadds Ford Township Board of Supervisors Wednesday night held a hearing and approved an updated SALDO (subdivision and land development) ordinance. According to Supervisors’ Vice Chair Timotha Trigg, the amended ordinance repeals and replaces Chapter 110 of the original SALDO dated 1985.

Township solicitor Mike Maddren said it was simply “a restatement of our entire SALDO.”

Mike Schneider, the township engineer, said the 71-page amended ordinance redefines many of the definitions used in the original, making them consistent throughout.

Supervisors also made several appointments during the April 3 meeting. Among them were Ben Simons (an elected auditor) and Jonathan Trigg (an alternate on the Zoning Hearing Board). The two were appointed to the Finance Committee. Maddren said it was OK for Timotha Trigg to vote for her husband because there’s no remuneration involved.

The board also appointed Lisa Wenrich as deputy fire marshal. Her husband, Phil Wenrich, who has been serving as the township’s fire marshal and emergency management coordinator was given a new title combining several functions. His title now is public safety and emergency management coordinator.

Supervisors agreed to a new two-contract with Turf Landscaping for lawn care services for the next two years. The contract has an estimated cost of almost $14,000 per year with an additional cost of $305 per cut. However, the final costs might not be that high. Township Manager Lacey Faber said the cost may be lower, depending on the amount of work needed.

Painters Folly needs a new furnace and the board voted to authorize an $1,800 expense for a new one.

The board is also looking to purchase a new AED — an automated external defibrillator — because, according to Timotha Trigg, the old one “disappeared.”
