Craig Brown, formerly of Chadds Ford

Craig Brown, 73, of Wilmington, died peacefully in the presence of loving family members on Friday, Aug. 5. He was born in Wilmington to James "Fred" and Sarah (Phillips) Brown. He grew up in Wilmington and Chadds Ford, graduating from Brandywine High School in 1968. Soon after graduation, Craig enlisted in the U.S. Army where he completed a tour in Vietnam and was later recognized for meritorious service, including two Bronze Star Medals. In 1972 he married the love of his life, Suzanne Griffiths, and spent 40 years with her until her passing in 2013.

Craig is remembered for his humble, hard-working, generous, and selfless nature. He was a devoted son, father, and grandfather, often putting his family's needs before his own. His talents included carpentry, excavation, and mechanics.

He is survived by his mother, Sarah Clark; his brothers, Alan and Jim Brown; his daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Marc Morris; his grandchildren, Cameron McFarland and Madelyn Morris; his son and son-in-law, Russell and Angel Lopez; and his aunt, Ann Bowen.

An interment service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 12, at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Bear. Family and friends are welcome to meet there to celebrate and honor Craig's life.
