Robert V. Daliessio of Chadds Ford

Robert “Bob” V. Daliessio, 79, of Chadds Ford, died peacefully in his home, surrounded by his loving family, on Aug. 6. Bob, one of 13 brothers and sisters, was born in Chester to the late Joseph Daliessio and Susan Iaconelli Daliessio on Nov. 8, 1942.

Robert V. Daliessio

Bob, a 1960 graduate of Ridley High School, excelled as a student-athlete through college and later earned his doctorate in education. Professionally, he was a trades teacher for 30-plus years in various Delaware County Vocational-Technical High Schools. After serving in Vietnam in the 1st Calvary Division of the US Army and receiving the Purple Heart, Bob met his devoted wife, Maureen, where they continued to dance the night away for 51 years. They eventually moved to Chadds Ford, where Bob designed and built his family’s home. His selflessness as a husband and father provided a lifetime of countless laughs, adventurous family trips, life lessons, and memories to his most cherished accolade…..his family.

A man of many interests, you could catch Bob in the garage at Bridgeport, racing the 9D, creatively fixing things, running on Route 1, helping others with home projects, reading and discussing philosophical books, playing Rummy with his family, cooking his famous meatballs, visiting extended family members, traveling, or cheering on his grandchildren at their sporting events. His richness in determination and perseverance were inspirational to many.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, seven brothers, three sisters, and one grandson. He is survived by his dedicated wife, Maureen Daliessio (Christiansen); brother, Francis Daliessio; sister, Sandra Garner; his children, Jason Daliessio (Ashley), Nicole Zehnder (Barry); his grandchildren, Stella, Taylor, and Carter; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, August 19, at St. Cornelius Catholic Church (160 Ridge Road Chadds Ford, PA 19317), at 11 a.m. Visitation will begin at 10. Interment will follow at All Saints Cemetery (6001 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE 19808) at 1 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Judes.
