The Boy with Hawk statue is now back where it had been for a long time, in front of the entrance to the Brandywine Museum of Art. It was sculpted by Charles Parks in 1971. For several years, it was replaced with Rikki Morley Saunders “Tipping Point,” of two peacocks intertwined in mid-air battle.

With the United States just two months away from celebrating the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, it should be noted that in just more than a year and a few months later, there was the Battle of Brandywine. Gen. George Washington used this building, the Ring House at the Brandywine Battlefield Park, as his headquarters before the start of that battle. This structure is a rebuild after the original was burned down in a fire in the 1930s.

The boardwalk between Hank’s Place and the Chadds Ford Historical Society, part of Walkable Chadds Ford, is still not open. According to Chadds Ford Township Manager Lacey Faber, it should be open by October, if not earlier.
