A 68-year-old Glen Mills woman was the victim of a telephone scam that resulted in her losing $38,000. No further details were released. The incident was reported on May 25, and PSP is investigating.

Home Depot in Concord Township was the victim of theft by shoplifting when an unidentified person walked out with $3,448 worth of merchandise. However, state police said they consider the case closed due to a lack of identifying suspect information. The incident was reported to police on May 11.

State police are investigating a report of terroristic threats made to a 28-year-old man from Nevada. The incident reportedly happened at Hot Clucks in Concord Township. The incident was reported on May 8. No other information was released.

Avondale Barracks

Longwood Gardens was the victim of a commercial burglary on May 23. Police said Sean Hayes, 46, of Audubon, N.J., was arrested. According to the police report, troopers were alerted to a suspected vehicle operator wandering the grounds. Surveillance video showed the suspect entered numerous buildings between the hours of 2 and 6 a.m. Hayes was found about 8:30 a.m. He is accused of stealing six electronic items with a total estimated value of $1,150.

An unidentified driver was cited for driving at an unsafe speed following a two-car crash on Hillendale Road in Pennsbury Township on May 22. The driver reportedly struck another car from behind. No injuries were reported.

Police arrested a 32-year-old man from Hyattsville, Md., for DUI at the East Marlborough Wawa on Route 1. The man, not identified by name, was operating a moped on the Wawa property. The incident happened on April 26.

Police said Alessandro C. Angelo, 20, of Philadelphia, was cited for masking an improper left turn at the intersection of E. Street Road and Lenape Road in Pennsbury Township on March 31. The report said Angelo tried to make the turn but failed to give clearance to oncoming traffic.

Joseph M. Devine, 30, was cited for DUI and unsafe driving following a two-car crash on Doe Run Road in West Marlboro Township on March 26, police said. The accident happened at the T intersection of Doe Run Road and Newark Road. According to the report, the other car was stopped at a stop sign at the intersection when Devine failed to stop and struck the car from behind.

A 40-year-old Carney’s Point, N.J. man was arrested for DUI in East Marlborough Township on May 31. The suspect was not named by police. According to the report, troopers responded to a disabled motorist on Route 82, and they determined the man was intoxicated.

According to a police report, Mark D. Young, 54, of Havertown, was cited for following too closely when he reportedly struck a car from behind on W. Doe Run Road in East Marlborough Township on May 31. Young, who was riding a motorcycle, was also injured and transported to Paoli Hospital with a broken right leg.

Justin S. Wagner, 24, of North Wales, was cited for excessive speed after a one-car crash in Pennsbury Township on May 27, police said. Wagner was also injured and taken to Christiana Care in Newark. According to the police report, Wagner was driving west on Cossart Road, but was traveling too fast while negotiating a left-hand turn, left the roadway, and struck a tree.

Two men, a 29-year-old from New Castle, Del., and a 30-year-old from Bel Air, Md., were arrested for shoplifting at the East Marlborough Township Walmart on April 10. Neither man was identified in the report, nor were other details given.

Police said Aaron C. Harrison, 32, of Newark, was cited following a one-car crash on Newark Road in West Marlborough Township on April 8. According to the report, Harrison was northbound on Newark Road when he crossed over into the opposing lane of traffic and struck a tree. Police also said they discovered there was an active warrant for Harrison.

A falling tree branch caused a one-car accident on Baltimore Pike in Pennsbury Township on May 5. No names were given; no injuries were reported; and there was no citation noted on the report. According to police, A Chevy Sierra was southbound on Route 1 when a tree branch fell onto the roadway. The Chevy hit the branch but was able to come to a controlled stop near Parkerville Road. There was minor damage to the vehicle, but it was driven away from the scene.

Police said Sahiya N. East, 33, of Philadelphia, was cited following a two-car crash at the intersection of Route 52 and E. Street Road in Pennsbury Township on May 3. According to the report, East struck the other vehicle from behind as it was stopped at the intersection’s yield/right turn lane. After striking the other vehicle, police said, East fled the scene at a high rate of speed.

State police conducted a traffic stop on Newark Road near Street Road in West Marlborough Township on May 2 for multiple traffic violations and determined the driver was DUI. No names were given in the report.

Police said Nicholas J. Souders, 27, of Coatesville, was cited following a one-car crash in East Marlborough Township on April 29. The report said Souder was driving West on School House Road and tried to negotiate a right-hand turn. He lost control of his vehicle, police said, and the GMC Acadia he was driving struck a tree.

Jessica N. Wilson, 43, of Elkton, Md., was cited for an improper left turn on Route 1 near Pennsbury West in Pennsbury Township on April 29, police said. The report also said the second driver, Guillermo Gutierrez-Perez, 43, of West Grove, was also cited for driving without a license. The accident happened at 9:22 a.m. According to the report. Wilson was driving north on Route 1 and tried to make a U-turn at the intersection of Route 1 near Pennsbury West. At the same time, police said, Gutierrez-Perez was driving south on 1. Wilson made the U-turn but failed to yield to the oncoming car. The two collided, and both cars had to be towed. Wilson was uninjured, but Gutierrez-Perez was transported to Chester County Hospital, complaining of chest pains.

Kennett Square Police Department

Police said Jeffrey Ferris, 58, of New Castle, was arrested and charged with DUI and other related traffic offenses, after the 2010 Nissan he was operating was stopped for failing to yield to oncoming traffic and nearly colliding with another vehicle. The incident occurred on May 1, at approximately 6:43 p.m., at the intersection of S. Union Street and South Street. Upon making contact with Ferris, police said, officers observed indicators suggesting intoxication, and field sobriety tests showed impairment. He was taken into custody for suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and submitted to a chemical test of his breath, resulting in a 0.137 percent blood alcohol level. He was processed and later released pending issuance of a summons.

On May 8, just after 8 p.m., Kennett borough police conducted a traffic stop conducted a traffic stop in the area of S. Union Street and Oak Avenue on a vehicle that failed to stop for a red traffic signal. Upon further investigation, the operator of the vehicle was taken into custody for suspicion of DUI. No names were included in the report.

Borough police were dispatched to the 800 block of Hornblende Avenue for a report of loose chickens. The homeowner was contacted and advised that they needed permits to possess fowl in the borough and that said permits allowed a maximum of four birds. The incident happened on May 9 at 11:12 a.m. No names were given.

State police said they arrested a 25-year-old woman from Middletown, Del. On disorderly conduct charges. The incident happened on March 14, on Lacrue Avenue in Concord Township, and police are just releasing the limited information now. Police said it was reported that a black female with braids was causing a disturbance. Upon arrival, the woman resisted detainment and was taken into custody.

Kennett Square Police Department

Borough police said Paul Macatee IV, 22, of Northeast, Md., was arraigned on April 29, for charges including aggravated assault, endangering the welfare of children, simple assault, aggravated assault victim less than 13 and defendant 18 or older, and aggravated assault victim less than 6 and defendant 18 or older. According to the report, on Feb. 10, the Kennett Square Police Department received a report from ChildLine regarding the suspected physical abuse of a 23-month-old child. The reporting party, a mandated reporter from the child’s school, observed numerous suspected burns on the child’s back and alerted police. With the assistance of Chester County Children, Youth, and Families, the child was removed from his home and placed with a family member. The child was evaluated at a medical facility where numerous injuries were identified all over his body. An investigation by the criminal investigation division determined that Macatee had exclusive custody of the child when the abuse occurred.

Police want help identifying this person, accused of stealing and damaging an Israeli flag.

The Kennett Square Police Department is seeking the public’s help in identifying the pictured male individual, who is suspected of stealing and damaging an Israeli flag. On April 25, at 4:50 p.m., a report said, while on patrol in the business district, officers were flagged down and advised that a male subject had run up to the reporting person, taken his Israeli flag, and run south on S. Union Street with it before breaking the post and throwing the flag in the garbage. Police are asking anyone with information about the suspect’s identity or who may have witnessed this incident to contact Officer Ortiz at jortiz@kennettsquarepolice.org.

Kennett Square police arrested Jose J. Lara Serrano, 23, of Wilmington, and charged him with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia, a report said. According to that report, police stopped a vehicle, a 2026 Honda, for heavy tint on the windshield and windows. During the course of the stop, the officer detected the odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle. A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed a quantity of marijuana and the paraphernalia.

Jadiel Irizarry-Montes, 26, of Newark, was arrested and charged with possessing a firearm without a valid license and other traffic offenses after the 2019 Dodge he was operating was stopped for having heavy window tinting on the front windshield of the vehicle, a police report said. A traffic stop was conducted on April 1, at approximately 11:30 a.m., in the 400 block of N. Union Street. Upon making contact with Irizarry-Montes, officers detected an odor of marijuana emanating from inside the vehicle. He gave consent for a search of his vehicle and advised that there was a handgun located inside the center console. Upon further investigation, it was determined that Jadiel Irizarry-Montes did not have a valid Pennsylvania License to Carry Firearms.
