• There’s a new restaurant in town. La Piña Valley Cantina had a soft opening in February, but held its ribbon-cutting on Friday, March 2. La Piña owners David and Fay Steiger said the restaurant — at 96 Wilmington Pike (Route 202) in the Garnet Valley Plaza — is a modern Mexican restaurant with a tequila/ mescal bar featuring 70 different brands. It’s open 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. Friday and Saturday. Fay Steiger said prices range from $2 to $28. La Piña is Spanish for the pineapple, an item prominently featured in the menu. Visit http://lapinacantina.com/

• This year’s annual Camp Cadet Golf Classic is scheduled for Monday, June 6 at the Whitford Country Club in Exton. The golf outing benefits Camp Cadet, a summer camp designed to help foster good relations between youth and police.

The Rogues will perform at St. Christopher's Episcopal Church in Oxford on April 14.

• The Friends Folk Club is sponsoring the appearance of the Celtic band, The Rogues on Saturday, April 14 at 8 p.m. Attendees are asked to bring nonperishable food items which will be donated to the local area food cupboards. Tickets are $15 and will be available at the door. Children 12 and under are free. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. The concert will be held at St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church 116 Lancaster Pike Oxford, PA 19363.

Color the Runway 5K to benefit the United Way of Chester County's Financial Stability Center is April 29.

• It’s time to color the runway, at least it will be on April 29. That’s the date for the fifth annual United Way Color 5K Run and Walk. The event is geared for everyone between the ages of 3 and 93 and gives participants the opportunity to walk the runway at Brandywine Airport to benefit the United Way of Chester County’s Financial Stability Center. The Brandywine Hills Point-to-Point is Sunday, April 1.

• The 76th running of the Brandywine Hills Point-to-Point is Sunday, April 1 at the Brandywine Red Clay Alliance’s Myrick Center on Route 842. Gates open at a10 a.m. and the first race is at 11. General admission is $20 per carload. For more information, go to www.brandywineredclay.org.

• The 69th annual Chadds Ford Elementary School Art Sale and Show is Friday and Saturday, March 16 and 17 at the school. Artists from the Brandywine Valley and beyond display and sell their art in an array of mediums to satisfy every taste and budget, and 30 percent of sale prices go to the school PTO for school projects. This year’s featured artist is plein air impressionist Jaclyn Beam. The donating artist is Kathy Ruck. The Friday, March 16 reception is from 7-10 p.m. and is for adults only.

• Unionville High School presents Rodgers and Hammerstein’s classic Broadway musical, “The King & I,” with performances on March 15, 16 and 17 at 7 p.m. Tickets are available online at www.showtix4u.com for $12.
