Home of the Sparrow’s Board of Directors invites community members to join them for the Third Annual “The Gathering at Penns Woods Winery” on Saturday, Sept. 24, from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.
Founded in 1994, Home of the Sparrow partners with women facing homelessness to secure housing, achieve long-term stability, and chart new paths for their futures. Home of the Sparrow exists to serve the most vulnerable among us and to end homelessness in the community, according to a Home of the Sparrow press release.
The key to reaching this goal is to create innovative strategies to address this crisis, and fundraisers like “The Gathering at Penns Woods Winery” assist with that mission. Home of the Sparrow offers programs that include eviction prevention, rental subsidies, shared housing, and services for pre-senior women. It also offers financial literacy education and connects women and families to a variety of resources so they can become self-sufficient in the future, the release said.
Upon arrival, guests will be dazzled by the beautiful vineyards in Concord Township and will enjoy two complimentary glasses of award-winning Penns Woods wines and appetizers provided by Whole Foods in Glen Mills. Yard games like Giant Jenga, croquet, and Baggo will be available with live music enhancing the ambience. Attendees will also be able to take a chance at some exciting raffle items and purchase additional bottles of wine – Penns Woods Winery will donate 10 percent of all wine sales back to Home of the Sparrow.
Later, guests will have a tempting array of dinner options from visiting food trucks – Koi on the Go, I Don’t Give a Fork, and Sweet Lavender. Guests will receive two meal vouchers and one dessert voucher with each individual event registration.
Tickets are $55 per person and can be purchased at www.HomeoftheSparrow.org/events. This is an indoor and outdoor event, rain or shine. Penn Woods Winery is located at 124 Beaver Valley Road, Chadds Ford, Pa.
