Learn wood-burning at Mt. Cuba Center.

On Friday, April 12, Mt. Cuba Center is offering a course Pyrography: Woodburning Art for Beginners. Be inspired by the beauty of spring and take home a beautiful wood-burned creation in this unique art class. Discover different wood-burning techniques, compare how different types of wood burn, and explore your artistic side by creating various textures, shapes, and designs with a simple-to-use wood-burning pen. All supplies are provided, just bring your creative spirit. The session runs from 10 a.m. to noon, and the cost is $49. Register here.

Delaware’s City Theatre Company will round out its 30th anniversary season with Brian Friel’s Dancing at Lughnasa. Dedicated to the playwright’s mother and aunts, this beloved Irish "memory play" revolves around the lives ­ and loves of five sisters in a small Donegal town in 1936 during the summer harvest festival of Lughnasa. The Brandywine Pops Orchestra will present a free concert Monday, May 6t at 7 p.m. at St. Cornelius Church Parish Life Center, 160 Ridge Road, Chadds Ford. The Pops Orchestra consists of 56 musicians from the local area. The concert includes music from An American in Paris, Band of Brothers, Superman, Apollo 13 and others.

On Saturday, April 14, at 3 p.m., the Delaware County Symphony presents A Chamber Concert for All Ages. The performance includes Ragtime music and a symphony for toys in this family-friendly event. With guest conductor, Dr. Roberta Winemiller, the DCS Chamber Ensemble will perform The Toy Symphony and a selection of ragtime arrangements, from 1912, colloquially known as the Red Back Book. The Kennett Library and Arts Holding Hands and Hearts = will hold a Spring Forward Together event on Wednesday, April 24.

On Wednesday, April 24, from 10 a.m. to noon and again from 5 to 8 p.m., the Kennett Library and Arts Holding Hands and Hearts (AHHAH) will co-host a Spring Forward Together event geared towards families with children to celebrate the Chester County Imagination Library (CCIL). Children from birth to age five who live in Chester County are eligible to be enrolled in the Chester County Imagination Library program to receive a free book in the mail once a month. The goal is to increase literacy levels for preschool-age children living in Chester County, to provide opportunities for positive family experiences and engagement, and to foster a love of reading in the greater Chester County community. The day will begin at 10 a.m. with activities for children and resources for families until noon. During the evening hours, there will be additional resources for working families and an opportunity to meet community vendors.

The Chadds Ford Township Residents Association will hold its spring roadside cleanup on Saturday, April 27 from 8 a.m. to noon. A township trail day will follow from noon to 3:30 p.m.
