School board spending on facilities

The Unionville Chadds Ford School Board directors voted Monday night to spend more than $2 million on various facility projects. Roofing projects for two schools were the largest expenses. History’s Witnesses

The Gilpin House and a majestic sycamore tree — at the Brandywine Battlefield Park — are witnesses to American History. The house was the home of the Gideon Gilpin Family during the Battle of Brandywine and the tree, according to the National Arborist Association and the International Society of Arboriculture assert that the tree has been there since the signing of the U.S. Constitution.
