Dear Chadds Ford Township Board members, Chair Trigg, Vice Chair Goodier, and Supervisor Reiner:

After several months, many letters and meetings that members of our neighborhood, “The Ridings of Chadds Ford,” have attended at Chadds Ford and Concord Township, we are now requesting that our elected leaders, the supervisors of Chadds Ford Township, represent us and take a stand on our behalf. We have asked at these meetings and via written correspondence what the CF supervisors are going to do regarding the proposed Shoppes at Concord to help our township, and now specifically our neighborhood, which will be most impacted by this development. We have not received an appropriate response from our elected representatives, and no communication from the developers who have hired attorneys who plan on steamrolling over us and our township.

It is quite apparent that no matter how many meetings the Chadds Ford constituents attend at Concord Township, we are disregarded. Consequently, you, as our elected officials, need to take an active role. If you agree with our points, take an active stand. If you disagree, let your voters know publicly. As board members, we expect transparency, considering that you have pledged to serve and protect our community.

The committee “Save Ridge Road” has provided the board with a tremendous amount of documentation detailing the impact that this development would have on Ridge Road traffic and the potential negative impact the stormwater runoff will have on our neighborhood. We don’t believe that the homeowners of the Ridings should have to incur costs to hire attorneys and engineers to prove this. Especially, considering that this is going to impact our neighborhood, when the township that we pay taxes to has an attorney and engineer on staff who should be addressing these issues on our behalf. We need our elected officials to champion this.

To summarize, we are asking that Chadds Ford supervisors take an active role and address our concerns. Furthermore, we want the board to explain to us how they are going to prevent this development from deleteriously impacting our neighborhood and township, or explain to us why this is not an issue that will impact us. We would like your response to be public, as we fear it will have lingering effects on our neighborhood and should be on the public record.

We need champions, not someone who passively allows this to happen.
