Police Log June 17: DUI, crashes, corruption of a minor

Police said a 42-year-old man from Milford, Del., was arrested for DUI on Route 202 in Concord Township for DUI. The incident happened on May 24. No other details were released.

Walter F. Miehle, 81, of Boothwyn, was cited for following too closely after a four-car crash on Route 202 north of Route 1 in Concord Township, police said. According to the report, all four vehicles were traveling south, but Miehle was following too closely and rear-ended one car, which had a domino effect, striking the third car, which struck the fourth.  Miehle and a passenger were injured and transported to a hospital for treatment. One of the other drivers was also injured, but refused transport.

State police are investigating a report of corruption of minors. According to police, a woman walked into the barracks to say that her 15-year-old daughter sent sexual images and videos to an unknown stranger.

A police report said a 21-year-old man from Chester was arrested for drug possession on Conchester Highway on May 5. The man was not identified in the report. Police said the man’s car was stopped for traffic violations.

Police said they arrested a 33-year-old Philadelphia man for theft, following an April 29 incident at Chipotle on Route 202. The man was not identified in the report, but that report said he entered a woman’s purse without permission and took $ 450-$ 500.

Details are few, but state police say they are investigating a reported theft of $50,000 in stocks. A report said the victim, a 57-year-old woman from Concord Township, reported the theft in person at the police barracks on May 19.

A 38-year-old woman from Chadds Ford is a victim of identity theft. According to a police report, the victim said she was contacted by multiple spoof phone numbers on multiple occasions to purchase gift cards and give the provider the card number and PIN for the gift cards. The Victim purchased gift cards on April 22, 23, and 25 totaling $5,155.00.

Avondale Barracks

Faustino Garcia Damian, 29, of Newark, was cited for unsafe driving, according to a state police report. The incident happened on Old Kennett Road east of Fallbrook Drive in Kennett Township following a one-car crash on May 17. The report said Garcia Damian was driving west on Kennett Road when a deer reportedly entered \the roadway. The report continued, saying Garcia Damian made a sharp turn to the right to avoid hitting the animal. The car then entered the westbound shoulder of the road, struck a tree, then overturned. Police said it was later determined that the driver was DUI. Garcia Damian was believed to be injured, but he refused transport.

Kennett Square Police Department

Police said Christopher Bistany, 58, of Wilmington, was arrested and charged with DUI and related traffic offenses after the 2016 Toyota he was operating was stopped for failing to stop at a red traffic signal. The incident occurred on May 8, at approximately 8:01 p.m., at the intersection of S. Union Street and E. South Street. Upon making contact with Bistany, officers observed indicators suggesting intoxication, and field sobriety tests showed impairment. He was taken into custody for suspicion of DUI and submitted to a chemical test of his blood. On June 5, 2026, a lab report was received showing alcohol and marijuana located in his system at the time of the blood draw. A criminal complaint was completed, and charges were filed in District Court 15-3-04.

Dider Sanchez-Lopez, 23, of Kennett Square, was arrested and charged with strangulation, simple assault, and other related charges following an altercation, during which he allegedly hit a female subject in the stomach and face, threw her to the ground, pulled her hair, and grabbed her by the throat, causing difficulty breathing, according to police. The incident occurred on June 7, at approximately 4:46 a.m., in the 600 Block of S. Union Street. Upon arrival, Sanchez-Lopez had already left the area, but was located later that evening and taken into custody. He was transported to Central Booking at Chester County Prison. Charges were filed in District Court 15-3-04.

Police said they arrested Norah Roth-Moore, 41, on June 9 for endangering the welfare of children. Police said they responded to a call about an unaccompanied male child, determined to be about 4 years old, wandering through a parking lot on Race Street pm May 9. The investigation revealed that the juvenile and his siblings were left unattended at their residence while their mother went to get coffee. As a result of the investigation, Roth-Moore was charged with endangering the welfare of children. This incident is pending a preliminary hearing.

Carl Rochester, 57, of Toughkenamon, was arrested and charged with DUI and other related traffic offenses after the Dodge Ram truck he was operating was involved in a multi-car collision, police said. The incident occurred on June 5, at approximately 2:19 p.m., in the 100 Block of W. Cypress Street. Upon contact with Rochester, he was initially unresponsive and showed signs of being under the influence of a controlled substance, and field sobriety tests showed impairment. He was taken into custody for suspicion of DUI and refused to submit to a chemical test of his blood. He was released pending issuance of a summons.

Police said Jason McCafferty, 20, of Oxford, was arrested and charged with violations of the Controlled Substance, Drug, Device, and Cosmetic Act (Act 64), after he was found to be in possession of controlled substances, marijuana, and other related paraphernalia, following a traffic stop conducted on his vehicle for excessively dark window tint. The incident occurred on June 1, at approximately 12:50 p.m., in the 300 Block of N. Union Street. He was taken into custody, processed, and later released pending issuance of a summons. The passenger inside the vehicle also received a non-traffic citation for disorderly conduct.
