Alvaro Garcia Botello, 51, of Kennett Square, died Sunday, Jan. 8, at his residence.

Born in Yuriria, GTO, Mexico, he was the son of Alfredo Garcia Perez and Maria Luisa Botello Rodriguez of Mexico.
Alvaro was a member of St. Rocco Catholic Church in Avondale. He was employed at Giorgio Mushrooms in Toughkenamon. Alvaro enjoyed soccer on TV, going on car rides and he especially enjoyed being with his family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by four brothers, Jose Luis Garcia (Betty) of Kennett Square, Miguel Garcia (Patricia) of Mexico, Lorenzo Garcia (Maricela) of Oxford, and Alfredo Garcia (Virginia) of Mexico; three sisters, Leticia Quintino (Jose) of Kennett Square, Herlinda Garcia of Mexico and Maria Torres (Julio) of Florida, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
You are invited to visit with his family and friends from 5 to 6: 30 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 18, at St. Rocco Catholic Church, 313 Sunny Dell Road, Avondale. His funeral mass will follow at 6:30. Burial will be in Mexico.

The Chadds Ford Township Board of Supervisors are pleased to announce the opening of the Studios of Painter’s Folly: Community Art Space. Available to six painters per month, the community art space is located in the mansion known as Painter’s Folly and famous for being one of Andrew Wyeth’s biggest inspirations. The studios are located in two rooms (Wyeth and Pyle Studios) on the second floor of Painter’s Folly and overlook the home’s 3.6 acres.
Studio space is available Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm for $100 per month. Interested painters can register for studio space by contacting the Chadds Ford Township Building at 610-388-8800 or by emailing info@chaddsfordpa.gov.
YMCA Brandywine holds a free pickle ball clinic this Saturday.
•The YMCA of Greater Brandywine is offering a free introductory pickleball clinic this Sunday, Jan. 15. Clinics will be held at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. at the Oscar Lasko YMCA in downtown West Chester. Each introductory clinic will last three hours and feature two hours of instruction from YMCA pickleball pros and one hour of structured open play. All are welcome to attend, and you do not need to be a YMCA member to participate. Guests should bring a valid photo ID.

•The Rachel Kohl Community Library will hold an author reading and book signing with author Subani Maheshwari on Saturday, Jan. 28 from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. The readings include two of Maheshwari’s books, Rainbow, Rainbow in The Sky, and Melody the Unicorn and the Beauty Within. •Starting Jan. 17, LCH will offer new Health and Happiness workshops to the community. These workshops will provide helpful information on various topics as well as tips to make life easier and more enjoyable. Each session will be presented in English and in Spanish every third Tuesday of the month in the LCH Kennett Square office. Each month LCH will offer a new topic on health and happiness. Topics include Traveling with Medicine, Checking Pulse and Blood Pressure, Reading Nutrition Labels, Health, and Humor, and much more. One Man Two Guvnors opens at DTC on Feb. 1.
•Delaware Theatre Company presents the hilariously slap-stick production of One Man, Two Guvnors, directed by Bud Martin in his 10th and final season as DTC’s artistic director. •All PennDOT driver’s license and photo centers will be closed Saturday, Jan. 14, through Monday, Jan. 16, in observance of the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday. Customers may still obtain a variety of driver and vehicle products and services, including all forms, publications, and driver training manuals, online through PennDOT’s Driver and Vehicle Services website, www.dmv.pa.gov.
