UHS art gala this weekend

Fish and Rainboots

The Unionville High School Art Gala is this weekend and UHS senior Elissa Stoop has been selected as the 2022 Senior Student Featured Artist. Local artist and Student Art Show Committee member Sarah Snyder-Dinsel said, “I am constantly amazed at the high caliber of artwork created by UHS students. It is such a pleasure to view their pieces, and our selection of one senior artist is never an easy one.”

Elissa’s art will be featured at the UHS Art Department Student Art Show to be held in conjunction with the Unionville Art Gala on Nov. 11 and 12 at Unionville High School. Also on display will be artworks by other UHS art students, as well as hundreds of pieces by local artists for purchase as part of the Unionville Art Gala fundraiser.

The community is encouraged to attend. Visitors to the show will enjoy live music and light refreshments and will have the opportunity to purchase local art at the Unionville Art Gala, or view and bid on items offered in the Silent Auction. Proceeds will benefit the UHS PTO. Admission is free. https://www.unionvilleartgala.com/

Birmingham in brief

Birmingham Township Board of Supervisors Monday night authorized advertising of the 2023 budget. Supervisors are scheduled to vote on the spending bill during their Dec. 5 meeting.

While there was no lengthy discussion on the budget, Supervisors Chairman Scott Boorse said there would be no tax increase. The millage rate would remain at 1.6 mils. (A mil is a tax of $1 for every $1,000 of assessed property value.)

Boorse added that the anticipated revenue for 2023 is $2.9 million, which includes a $1.1 million carry forward. Expenses are expected to be $2.35 million, he said.

Textures in Gray

The peeling bark of a River Birch is just one of the course textures, along with the soil, mulching deadfall, the shrubs, and the stone wall. And they are punctuated with the smooth window trim and glass, and the vertical drainpipe.
