Resident charged in Webb Road shooting

State police said Richard Falcone has been charged with discharging a firearm into an occupied structure, making terroristic threats, and recklessly endangering another person following the Saturday morning incident on Webb Road in Chadds Ford Township.

According to the press release, troopers were called to the 400 block of Webb Road (near Oakland Road) at approximately 2:40 a.m. Saturday. Once there, they saw the suspect, later identified as Falcone, outside a residence. Police said he initially disregarded instructions and went back inside.

Troopers established a perimeter, restricted vehicle movement on Webb Road, and notified area residents to shelter in place, the release said. Shortly afterward, troopers observed Falcone exit the house, this time carrying a firearm. There was no mention of what type of firearm, but additional PSP personnel — including the Special Emergency Response Team — were summoned to the scene.

Troopers on the scene then called and sent texts to Falcone’s cell phone, as well as hailing him on a public address system, asking him to surrender. Falcone finally did give himself up, the report said, after a standoff of nearly five hours. He was then taken into custody with no further incident.

Judge Steven A. Sandone of District Court 32-2-40, set bail at $200,000, at a 10 percent premium. Falcone was subsequently committed to the Delaware County Prison.

A preliminary hearing is currently scheduled for 9 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 20, before Judge Wendy Roberts.

UPDATE

The hearing was continued to Oct. 25.

Shadow

Shadow

Shadow is a 3-years-old, female, domestic shorthair mix. She is a lovely lady who is also a study in contrasts. The first impressions shows her as a prim and proper grey tabby with her tail neatly wrapped around her. Then she speaks with an unmistakably gravelly voice. This friendly lady also has a unique habit of announcing to the world when she has used her litter box. Please come say hello to this low-maintenance kitty with gorgeous blue eyes. You can name your fee for Shadow through Sunday, Sept. 18.

Mr. Gray

Mr. Gray

Meet the regal Mr. Gray, a 1-year-old, male, mixed breed. Mr. Gray came to us when his owner moved and could no longer care for him. He’s used to living in a home with doggie siblings, so a home with other dogs may be a good fit for him. If you would like to visit Mr. Gray, please bring your family and any other dogs in the home for a meet and greet at the shelter. You’re sure to fall in love with this guy. You can name your fee for Mr. Gray through Sunday, Sept. 18.
