Robert J. Fragale Sr. of Kennett Square

Robert J. Fragale Sr., 92, of Kennett Square, died peacefully on Dec. 20, surrounded by his family at the home he was born and raised in. He was born July 1929, in Kennett Square, the son of Giuseppe and Rose (Fazio) Fragale.

Robert graduated from Kennett Square High school and following graduation, he served with honor in the U.S. Air Force. After the war, he married his first love Nadine (Betts) Fragale. They celebrated 42 years of marriage before Nadine’s death on June 13, 1995. Robert was a member of the Sons of Italy as well as several other fraternal organizations. As one of the premier mushroom growers in Kennett Square Robert was a highly successful businessman, involved in that business for over 40 years.

Robert loved to travel and dance with his wife Nadine. He followed with great interest the financial markets and was himself a savvy investor. He was at his best when surrounded by family and friends at his pool, especially around holidays or other significant events.  In his earlier years, he was a great outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish.  He enjoyed preparing his favorite Italian dishes for himself and his loved ones throughout his life.  He was a creature of habit and loved his early morning coffee, newspaper, and sitting on his front porch enjoying both and all that nature offered.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Lena (Fragale) DiGiancinto, and brother Anthony Fragale.

Surviving is a brother Charles (Pep) Fragale, his children Robert J Fragale Jr, Cynthia (Sellani) and husband John, Michael Fragale, Karen Conaway, and Jamie and wife Charlene. Robert has 10 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

You may visit with his family and friends from 6-8 p.m., on Wednesday, Dec. 29, at the Kuzo Funeral Home, 250 West State St., Kennett Square PA 19348. There will be another viewing at the funeral home from 9:30-10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 30, followed by an 11 a.m. funeral mass at St. Patrick’s Church, 212 Meredith St. Kennett Square PA, 19348. Interment will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Route 82, Kennett Square.

In lieu of flowers, those who wish to remember Robert in a special way may make gifts in his memory to the American Heart Association or the National Kidney Foundation
