Leader Sunoco inching back

All service bays are back up and operational at Leader Sunoco.

It’s a matter of perspective. Is the glass half-full or half-empty? For Dan Leader, of Leader Sunoco, his attitude is better.

“I’m feeling much more positive now,” he said.

The previous negative attitude came after the flooding from Hurricane Ida four weeks ago. While the station still can’t pump any gas, at least all three service bays are back up, and the wheel and tire balancing machines have been replaced. And the credit card machine is running again, too.

Timing on gasoline remains a mystery, however. The flooding destroyed the pumps and ruined 7,000 gallons of gasoline. The pumps are on backorder and the station is not sure when they’ll come in.

“It’s going to be weeks, maybe months,” said Jim Leader. “When the lights come back on our price sign, then you’ll know we have gas.”
