The Chester County Historical Society’s next Virtual Book Group will discuss “A Black Women’s History of the United States” By Daina Ramey Berry and Kali Nicole Gross on Thursday, Sept. 17, from 10-11:30 a.m. “This book reaches far beyond a single narrative to showcase Black women’s lives in all their fraught complexities through American history. In-person and virtual classes return to West Chester Studio at Uptown on Sept. 19.

West Chester Studio at Uptown is offering in-person and virtual classes this fall beginning Sept. 19. There will also be autumn auditions. There are classes on storytelling, acting, singing, and more with classes geared for ages from 1 year old through 12th grade. Go here for information on specific classes.

The Chester County Historic Center will hold a genealogy workshop on Saturday, Sept. 26, from 9:30-11:45 a.m. — and again on Saturday, Oct. 24. Sifting through the Evidence: Analyzing Documents and Sources for Genealogy will go over research methods. Go here for tickets.

State Rep. Stephen Barrar will be hosting a shredding and drug take-back event on Saturday, Sept. 26, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Elam United Methodist Church, 1073 Smithbridge Road in Concord Township. Residents are asked to drop off outdated and unused medications and over-the-counter drugs.

A crowd gathers to listen to some live music by the 29ers outside the newly opened Oso Sweet Bakery in the Barn Shops in Chadds Ford Township. The grand opening was Friday, Sept. 4. Owner Tess Wofford said she plans on having live music every Friday evening.
