Chadds Ford in brief

In a brief meeting that lasted less than 30 minutes, Chadds Ford Township supervisors doled out some money and held a hearing to formally rescind a year-old zoning ordinance.

Chuck Ulmann, the curator of he Chris Sanderson Museum, receives a check form Chadds Ford Township Vice Chairman Samantha Reiner, right, and Supervisor Noelle Barbone for the museum. Supervisors’ Chairman Frank Murphy was not in attendance.

Supervisors Samantha Reiner and Noelle Barbone presented checks for $2,500 each to the Chadds Ford Historical Society and The Chris Sanderson Museum. They also had a check for the Chadds Ford Civic Association but there was no one to accept the money. Jason Greenplate accepted for the CFHS and Curator Chick Ulmann accepted for the Sanderson.

The hearing was for Ordinance 161. Its adoption vacates Ordinance 156, which was enacted last summer, and eliminates the V-Village District from the zoning code. Reiner said there was too much confusion with last year’s ordinance and that the township would just start over to develop another, less confusing ordinance.

Engineer Mike Schneider said the township’s 2019 Road Program would start with the repaving of Oakland Road beginning June 11. It’s supposed to take 2-3 weeks, depending on the weather.

Schneider said Oakland would be repaved between the five-points intersection at Dilworthtown and the Brinton 1704 House. The current plan is to keep the road open during the process but there may need to be lane restrictions. Schneider added that while there are no plans to close the road, that may be necessary if the equipment used takes up too much room to allow a lane to remain open. Any road closures would be brief and intermittent, he said.

The Planning Commission is expected to hear an updated plan for the proposed Brandywine Summit Hotel during its June 12 meeting.
