• Uptown! Knauer Performing Arts Center with Windish Music & Productions presents Frederick J. on Friday, Feb. 16 at 7:30 p.m., a Philly Theatre Week show. Audiences from the Greater Philadelphia region have the opportunity to see Frederick J. One Man Band at the low Theatre Week price of $15 per ticket. A limited number of tickets are available through the Theatre Philadelphia website, theatrephiladelphia.org, and more through Uptown!

The Paint Out Chadds Ford artist reception and wet paint sale is Saturday, Feb. 3 from 6-8 p.m.

• The Chadds Ford Historical Society hosts its 10th annual plein air art event called Paint Out Chadds Ford from Thursday, Feb. 1 through Sat., Feb. 3. Artists from the Mid-Atlantic region will be painting outdoors around the Chadds Ford area as well as at the Barns Brinton House, John Chads House and along Brandywine Creek. The Historical Society will host a special art exhibition at the Society's Barn Visitors Center that Saturday evening, from 6 to 8 p.m. The public is invited to an artists' reception and a wet paint sale. Admission is $15 per person ($10 for Chadds Ford Historical Society members) and includes light refreshments. All exhibited artwork is available for purchase. A portion of the proceeds from each painting sold helps support the society. For more information and to purchase tickets, visit www.chaddsfordhistory.org. Haggis anyone? The Scottish Burns Supper and Whisky Tasting is Friday, Feb. 2, from 6 – 8:30 p.m. at the Brandywine River Museum's Millstone Café.

• The Brandywine River Museum is hosting the Scottish Burns Supper and Whisky Tasting on Friday, Feb. 2, from 6 – 8:30 p.m. in the museum's Millstone Café. The cost is $100 for members, $110 for non-members. Each year, Scots from all over the world gather in the dark days of winter for a traditional evening meal and a joyous celebration to commemorate the birthday of one of their favorite sons, Robert Burns. The Brandywine Burns Supper consists of a hearty meal of traditional Scottish fare prepared by chef MacGregor Mann, including haggis and a tasting selection of a Belhaven ale and three single malt whiskeys. A bagpiper will perform stirring Scottish music to accompany the haggis as it is brought to the table, and special guest Alasdair Nicol—PBS Antiques Road Show presenter and Freeman's Auction chairman—will deliver the "Address to a Haggis." The menu includes Braden is gruth, Cullen skink, haggis with red berry whiskey sauce and cranachan.

• Darlington Arts Center is hosting a preschool Valentine's Day Party from 10 a.m. to noon on Feb.14. The event is free. Children will enjoy a special day of creativity and fun activities during the morning complete with experiences involving the arts. The Valentine's Day party also creates an open house event at the arts center for prospective parents and their children. • Kennett Area Community Service will hold its seventh annual Empty Bowls event on Thursday, Feb. 22, at the Red Clay Room in Kennett Square. The community is invited to learn what KACS is doing to eliminate hunger, alleviate homelessness and reduce poverty in our community. Enjoy a simple meal of soup, salad and bread and select a handmade bowl as a reminder of families in need. Silent and live auctions will be held at both lunch and dinner. Silent auction items include restaurant and merchant gift cards, works by local artisans, sports tickets and baskets of cheer. The live auction will feature a day of sailing on the Chesapeake (lunch event) and a week's stay at a 5-bedroom luxury home in Breckenridge, Colorado (dinner event). All proceeds benefit the Kennett Food Cupboard, a program of Kennett Area Community Service. Tickets are $25.
