Roadwork for Sept. 30 through Oct. 6

PennDOT has announced the following road projects, which are weather-dependent and could affect residents in the greater Chadds Ford area during the week of Sept. 30 through Oct. 6. Motorists are urged to allow extra time if they are traveling through one of the construction zones.

• Birmingham Road, between Regimental Drive and General Howe Drive in East Bradford Township, is scheduled to close Monday, Oct. 2, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., for pipe replacement. During the closure, motorists will be directed to use Route 52, Creek Road and Route 926.

• Lane restrictions are in effect from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m., Oct. 1- Oct. 5 for Birmingham Road between Old Wilmington Pike and Route 52 in Birmingham and East Bradford townships, for milling.

• Lane restrictions are also in effect Monday and Tuesday, Oct 2 and 3, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Lenape Unionville Road from just west of Red Lion Road to just west of Route 52 in Pocopson Township, for paving.

• Curb and sidewalk installation will cause lane closures on West Baltimore Pike between Penns Manor Road and Mill Street in Kennett Township from 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. through the end of the year.

• Curb and sidewalk installation will cause lane closures on West Cypress Street Between Scarlett Road and Mill Street in Kennett Township from 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. through the end of the year.

• Curb and sidewalk installation will also cause lane closures on Rosedale Road between Walnut Street and MacFarlan Road through the end of the year.

•  Lane restrictions with flagging continue on Newark Road between Route 41 and New Garden Road through late October, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., for widening activities as part of a project to improve travel and safety at the intersection of Route 41 and Newark Road in New Garden Township, Chester County. The project is scheduled to finish in spring 2018.

• Utility installation will cause lane closures on Naamans Road in Concord Township, between Pyle and Shavertown roads on Sept. 25 through Oct. 21.

• Periodic lane restrictions remain in effect on Route 322 between Route 1 and Clayton Park Drive through Oct. 20 as part of the reconstruction and road widening of Route 322.
