Local SPCA deploying to Houston

A team of 1o Brandywine Valley SPCA employees is deploying to Houston today and tomorrow to provide operational leadership in two locations as part of Hurricane Harvey relief efforts in the Houston area. Best Friends Animal Society (Kanab, UT) asked Adam Lamb, BVSPCA CEO, to help setup a temporary shelter at the NRG Arena in Houston to handle more than 1,000 animals ...

H. Valeria “Buckie” Pratt, 99, of Kennett Square, died peacefully on Saturday, Sept. 2, at The Friends Home. She was the wife of Gilbert MacFarland Pratt Sr. who predeceased her on Feb. 10. Police Log Sept. 6: Thefts, accidents

• A retail store in Painters Crossing in Chadds Ford Township was ripped off on Aug. 27. A police report said an unknown suspect used a counterfeit $100 bill sometime between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. The case remains under investigation. • State police from the Media barracks said a 32-year-old woman from Concord Township was the victim of identity theft.
