Landhope customer gets slice of Powerball pie

If you’re lamenting the fact that you didn’t strike it rich in the record-setting Powerball drawing on Wednesday night, a vicarious thrill is still possible.

Someone who bought a ticket at the Landhope Farms at Routes 82 and 926 in East Marlborough Township matched five numbers to score $1 million.

“Wow! That's about all we can say!” read a posting on the convenience store’s Facebook page. “Congratulations to the lucky customer!”

Three winning tickets, one each sold in Tennessee, California, and Florida, will share the $1.59 billion jackpot for selecting 08, 27, 34, 04, 19 and Powerball 10. Seventy-three tickets, three of which were purchased in Pennsylvania, qualified for the $1 Million Match 5 prize, according to the Powerball website.

For those who aren’t content to have crossed paths with a million-dollar winner and prefer their thrills firsthand, there’s always next time. The current estimated jackpot is $40 million, the website said.
