The Brandywine River Museum of Art is gearing up for another opening, this time it’s “JAMIE WYETH: UNSETTLED.” It was five years in the making by the Brandywine and will feature more than 50 works drawn from museum and private collections across the country that focus on the artist’s arresting, visceral imagery, revealing fascinating insight into Wyeth and the art of visual storytelling. Unsettled will be on view at Brandywine from March 17–June 9, before traveling to four additional art museums around the United States.

Kid Inventors Weekend at Hagley on Friday, Feb. 16.

On Friday, Feb. 16 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Hagley Museum celebrates Kid Inventors' Weekend (postponed from January) by offering activities that will tap into kids’ creativity and curiosity. Participate in activities that celebrate the genius behind design. Learn about the patent process and see examples of early American ingenuity in the Nation of Inventors exhibit. Visit the DuPont Discovery Loft to “Tinker and Create.” Take apart electronics, use household “junk” to create your own patent model, and submit your patent application at Hagley’s Patent Office. Admission is $20 for adults, $16 for seniors/students, free for Hagley Members and children 14 and under.

Valentines at WInterthur

Winterthur is offering a Valentine’s Day special, Valentine’s Day Wine & Design for Twoon Friday, Feb. 9 from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Couples will each design a piece, then test their “partner skills” uniting the pieces as one arrangement. While each arrangement is beautiful on its own and can remain so when placed together they create a cohesive, paired arrangement — you decide. Includes wine tasting. Led by Christina Benton, floral designer. $200 per couple; $180 per member couple. Registration is required by Feb. 3.

CFES Art Show, March 16.

There are some changes planned for Chadds Ford Elementary School’s 75th annual Art Show and Sale has some changes. Instead of the traditional two-day event, this year it will only be one day, Saturday, March 16, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Another change is the opportunity for patrons to buy art, jewelry, wooden items, glass designs, and pottery directly from the artists, creating a speedier check-out process. There’s no admission fee for this event, and all ages are welcome to attend.

Delaware Theatre Company’s fourth production of the season is the fun-loving, musical ALWAYS…PATSY CLINE. The show is based on the true story of the friendship between Patsy and a devoted fan and features nearly 30 of Cline’s beloved hits, such as“Walkin’ After Midnight,” “I Fall to Pieces,” and “Crazy.” It runs from Feb. 21 through March 10. Tickets are available by calling DTC's Box Office at 302-594-1100 or online at delawaretheatre.org.
