Dennis Melton to be honored this Sunday, Oct. 1 at the Kennett Library.

“The Melton Terrace is one of the highlights of our new building,” said Kennett Library Executive Director Chris Manna, “A multi-purpose space that truly expresses the flexibility of 21st-century libraries. From author talks to star gazing, musical story times, and even concerts, this space reflects our commitment to bringing new levels of community enrichment to the region. Dennis's commitment to all aspects of this community is best recognized through the naming in honor of this terrace.

Dennis Melton was an architect, musician, and community builder. He worked for more than 20 years to keep the Kennett Library in the Borough, where it would be accessible to everyone. While thrilled with all the plans to expand the facility into a multi-faceted resource center, Dennis was particularly enthused that the design included a large terrace. He envisioned folks enjoying a concert or an art show or simply meeting and sharing ideas in an inspiring outdoor space, further enhancing the quality of life in our community.

Donna Melton, wife of the late Dennis Melton, said, “Our family is grateful to the Kennett Library Board of Trustees for honoring Dennis in this way. We also sincerely appreciate all whose donations helped fund the Melton Terrace as part of the Campaign for the Kennett Library & Resource Center. We look forward to welcoming you and sharing Dennis’s music with you in this beautiful new facility.”

This concert is free and open to the public. All are welcome to join.
