Yoga for the family at Mt. Cuba Center.

Join local family-friendly yoga practice Petite Yogi for an outdoor yoga session in Mt. Cuba’s South Garden on Saturday, Aug. 12 from 10:30-11:15 a.m. The class is for everyone, from beginners to experienced yogis, children ages 4 and up with an adult are invited to take this exciting yoga class designed to strengthen family bonds. Participants are encouraged to bring their own mats. The event is included with admission. Register here.

Ki8ds get a chance to practice reading aloud to therapy dogs.

Rachel Kohl Library will hold a Paws for Reading event on Saturday, Aug. 12 from 10 to 11 a.m. PAWS for reading is a program where children can practice reading to therapy dogs. The therapy dogs provide a gentle, judgment-free zone for kids who are learning to read or just like to read to dogs. PAWS for Reading will be in the library's community room or the library's reference area. Registration is required, so call 610-358-3445 or stop in at the library to register.

The Brandywine Battlefield Park Associates will be hosting their Family Fun Day event at Brandywine Battlefield Park on Saturday, Aug. 19, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be various colonial demonstrations, such as carpentry and blacksmithing. Also featured are flax and bobbin lace demonstrations. The Chester County Chapter of NSDAR will host children’s games during the day. Tours of the Ring and Gilpin house will be given. This year we’re partnering with Teachers’ Teammates, an organization that provides school supplies to teachers from under-resourced schools in Delaware County. Each visitor who brings in an accepted school supply will be admitted for free.  Regular admission rates apply for those without a school supply - $8 for adults; $7 for seniors, AAA, AARP; and $5 for Youth (ages 3-11).  Check out our events page for a link to the list of accepted school supplies. Opera Philadelphia if offering a free outdoor performance on Aug. 24.

On Aug. 24, Opera Philadelphia teams up with the East Passyunk Opera Project (ePOP) for Center City District’s Arts on Center Stage in Dilworth Park. Opera singers will give a live concert in the heart of Center City, just outside City Hall. Aubry Ballarò, Kathryn Leemhuis, Taylor-Alexis Dupont, John Viscardi, Jorell Williams, and Aurelien Eulert will be performing the program. The event is free and open to the public. Dilworth Park is at 1 S. 15th Street on the west side of City Hall in Philadelphia.

The Family Promise Day of Promise Golf Tournament is Sept. 11 at Kennett Square Golf & Country Club. It’s a day of fun, friendly competition, and most importantly, supporting a great cause. Jazz at Longwood on Sept. w22.

Wine and Jazz time is approaching Longwood Gardens. Longwood is preparing a special nighttime Wine & Jazz All Stars performance in its Open Air Theatre on Friday, Sept. 22. Featured artists include pianist Emmet Cohen, clarinetist Anat Cohen, James Faulkner on drums, and Terell Stafford on trumpet. Tickets include all-day Gardens Admission, reserved seating for the concert, and an Illuminated Fountain Performance on Friday, Sept. 22 at 8:15 p.m. Reserved seating starts at $49.
