PennDOT has announced the following weather-dependent road projects that could affect drivers in the greater Chadds Ford area from May 6 through May 12. Motorists are urged to allow extra time traveling through one of the construction zones. Work schedules are subject to change.
• From Monday, May 8 through Friday, May 12, motorists should expect daytime lane closures along northbound Route 1 between Schoolhouse and Bayard roads in Kennett and East Marlborough townships. The lane closures are due to utility excavation in preparation for the ultimate widening of Route 1 from the Kennett Oxford Bypass and Greenwood Road.
• Utility restoration will cause overnight lane closures on Route 202 between Christy and Hillman drives in Chadds Ford Township from May 8-12.
• Utility restoration will also cause overnight lane closures on Route 1 between Creek and Webb roads in Chadds Ford Township and between Constitution Drive and Sunny Ridge Lane in Pennsbury Township.
• Gas line installation will cause daytime lane closures on Route 1 between Schoolhouse Road and Ladbroke Lane in East Marlborough Township through June 30.
• Roadway reconstruction will cause daytime lane closures on Route 202 between Smithbridge Road and Watkin Avenue, and on Naamans Creek Road between Route 202 and Graystone Drive through Sept. 1.
• Road reconstruction will also cause daytime lane closures on Naamans Creek Road between Route 202 and Graystone Drive in Concord Township through Sept. 1.
• Utility restoration will cause daytime lane closures on Route 202 between Smithbridge Road and McComb Avenue in Concord Township from May 8 to 12.
• Motorists should expect lane restrictions with a detour for trucks on Route 162 at its intersection with Route 82 in Newlin Township because of bridge repair. There is currently no date for completion.
