Hank’s Place opening in Kennett

Hank’s Place, the iconic eatery in Chadds Ford, is about to have a soft opening in Kennett Square. The restaurant on Route 1 and Creek Road was wiped out in last year’s flood and owners Anthony and Katie Young have been operating out of a food trailer there for months. But the trailer went away on Oct. 1.

Now, temporarily at least, the Youngs will operate Hank’s Place in the old Kennett Steak and Mushroom on Birch Street in Kennett borough. A soft opening is scheduled for this Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. This is by reservation only. Phone 412-587-5189 to make a reservation.

A grand opening is scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 18, for regular walk-in and take-out service.

According to Katie Young, the restaurant will be open from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., seven days per week. Dinner hours and special events will resume in 2023. She has also said that she and Anthony are committed to reopening in Chadds Ford and will do so as soon as possible.

A sunny weekend in photos

The Moondawgs entertain during Saturday’s Barks and Brews at the Brandywine River Museum of Art.

It was a sunny weekend, good for a variety of activities. The Brandywine River Museum of Art courtyard was open to beer lovers and their canine friends on Saturday, while Concord Township and Darlington Arts center had an art appreciation day. On Sunday, troopers from Pennsylvania State Police Media barracks held their second Sunny Day Camp for special needs kids.
