Pennsylvania State Police

Avondale Barracks

A 23-year-old man from Downingtown, not identified in the report, was arrested by state police for DUI following a traffic stop on S. Wawaset Road in Pocopson Township on June 3. Police said the suspect showed signs of impairment and marijuana was found in the vehicle, a 2010 Audi Q7. While being processed and fingerprinted, police said they discovered the suspect was using a fake name and that there was a warrant for his arrest in connection with a homicide in Philadelphia.

Sometime during the overnight hours between 8 p.m. on June 4 and 9 a.m. June 5, someone stole cash — $1,580 — from the office at the Capriotti’s in East Marlborough Township. Police are investigating.

Kennett Square Police Department

Jose Garcia-Vega, 25, of Kennett Square was charged with and subsequently arrested for sexual abuse of children and six other offenses, according to a police report. Officers responded to a call about a domestic dispute in the 400 block of Juniper Street on the afternoon of May 20. After further investigation and interviews, the report said, it was determined that Garcia-Vega had prior sexual contact with an individual while they were a minor and he was an adult.

Borough police said Nathan Hopkins, 22, of West Chester, was arrested for DUI after the vehicle he was operating was stopped for expired registration. Police made the stop on May 30, at approximately 2:49 a.m., in the 500 block of West Cypress Street. Officers said they observed indicators suggesting intoxication, and field sobriety tests showed impairment. He was taken into custody for suspicion of DUI and submitted to a chemical test of his breath, which resulted in a blood alcohol level of 0.209 percent. While in the holding cell, Hopkins caused damage to wires, subsequently setting off the fire alarm, the report also said.
