Mary M. Parsons, formerly of Kennett Square

Mrs. Mary M. Parsons, 88, of Rehoboth Beach, formerly of Kennett Square, passed away on Wednesday, April 20, at her home.  She was the wife of the late Russell E. Parsons with whom she shared 57 loving years of marriage.  Born on Dec. 31, 1933, in Newtown Square, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Pinkerton) Bird.

Mary was a homemaker. In addition to caring for her own children and home, she provided care for many other children and homes through the years. In her later years, she worked at Heart to Heart Bridal Salon in Delaware and Fabrications in Kennett Square.

Mary loved taking care of her family and spending time with family and friends. She enjoyed her time at the beach, playing cards, painting, knitting, and sewing.

Mary was a graduate of Conestoga High School, Berwyn. She was a longtime member and deacon at the First Baptist Church, Kennett Square, more recently becoming a member at the Kennett Square Presbyterian Church.  She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Cochranville Chapter, and served as a Worthy Matron with the Kennett Chapter.

Mary is survived by her children, Deborah Reppert (Dave), Larry Parsons (Michele), Dionne McNeel (Michael), and Russell, known as Rusty, grandchildren, Shannon, Amanda (Chris), Matthew, Laura (Adam), Paul (Taylor), and Jake, great-grandchildren, Ivy, Aiden, Collin, Chase, Aubrey, Carter, Piper, Asher, and Reese.  In addition to her husband and parents, Mary is preceded in death by her son Robert, granddaughter Cheryl, and brother Joseph Bird.

Friends will be received on Wednesday, April 27, from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Thursday, April 28, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Kuzo Funeral Home, 250 W. State St., Kennett Square where a service will begin at 11. The interment will follow at Longwood Cemetery, Kennett Square.

Michael Anthony Mayo of Kennett Square

Michael Anthony Mayo, aged 62, passed away on April 14, 2022. He was born at Chester County Hospital and spent most of his life in Kennett Sq., Pennsylvania. He also lived in Miami, Fla., and Marietta, Ga. While in Georgia he worked as a heavy equipment operator and as a fry cook. He graduated from Unionville-Chadds Ford High School. After graduation, he worked as a carpet installer in and around the Kennett Square area.

Michael is survived by his parents Roy S. Mayo of New Castle, Del. and Ellen J. Mayo of Kennett Square, sisters Paula D. Minor of Jackson, Ga., and Cheryl L. Mayo of Kennett Square, nieces and nephews Michelle Minor, Brandon Mayo, Jazmine Greene, Jeffrey Greene Jr., and Kelsey Tynes; two great-nephews A.J. Turner and Brandon Mayo Jr., and three great-nieces Jordan Turner, Breninn Mayo, and Audreyana Tynes.

Known as “Uncle Mikey” to his nieces and nephews and “Mikey” to his friends he loved to draw and write poetry. Michael was passionate about cooking and loved to barbecue. His favorite hobby was fishing and he often took his nieces and nephews fishing with him.

Suffering from complications due to diabetes he was forced to give up many of the things he enjoyed doing. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
