Darlington holds doubleheader event

Delaware County residents and visitors can enjoy the region’s re-emergence of the arts with a double-header of entertainment on Saturday, Nov. 6 at Darlington Arts Center. The fun starts at 6:30 p.m. with a free opening night reception and exhibition of work from established and emerging visual artists representing the nonprofit art consortium ART 504 Creative Collective.

Guests can meet Philadelphia-area artists and connect with fellow art enthusiasts at the inspiring opening reception while enjoying a specially curated exhibition featuring pieces in a variety of media and styles. The exhibition runs throughout November and all pieces displayed will be available for purchase. RSVP for the free reception is requested via email to programs@darlingtonarts.org.

At 8 p.m., things heat up with the return of the Coffee House Concert featuring popular area indie-folk-bluegrass duo Who? What? When? Why? & Werewolves? (a.k.a. 6W). Enjoy an evening of music, storytelling, and self-deprecating humor with 6W members Matt Orlando and Andrew Fullerton. Coffee, tea, and dessert are included in the ticket price ($20/$40 for a four-pack/$10 for members), and guests may bring snacks or their favorite beverage.

The concert takes place in the Ann Anthony Community Space. New this year is an option to view the concert online ($10 at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/193756199007) and turn your home into your own private coffee house. The pre-show begins at 7:30 p.m. For ticket information and details, call 610-358-3632.

“Darlington is thrilled to continue providing Every Art for Everyone as we celebrate the return of ART 504 to our gallery walls and 6W to our coffee house stage,” said Eric Thompson, executive director at Darlington Arts Center. “We invite our community to participate in-person or online, as they feel comfortable, and reconnect to the arts.”

Both events take place at Darlington Arts Center, 977 Shavertown Road, Garnet Valley.

Ruth Codichini of Cochranville

Ruth Codichini, 100, of Cochranville, died Wednesday, Oct. 20, peacefully at home where she lived with her daughter and son-in-law, Marcia and Bernie Dickerson. She died of natural causes that evening after a long visit with close family at her side.

Ruth Codichini

Born and raised in Altoona, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Sadie Kemp. Ruth had an older sister Mary and two younger twin brothers, Billy and Bobby. She graduated high school in 1939 and went to work for the local electric company.

In 1941, Ruth married Jack Anderson and went on to share the next 34 years together with him. They spent their first three years together in Nebraska then moved back east to Valley Forge before settling into the home they built in Kennett Square where they raised their two children, Tommy and Marcia. Tragically they lost Tommy to a motorcycle accident at the young age of 17 in 1962. Ruth then suffered the loss of Jack to cancer in 1975. Just a few years later Ruth was fortunate enough to meet and marry Joseph Codichini with whom she spent the next 27 years. She was truly blessed with two wonderful husbands.

Ruth was a devout Christian and dedicated member of Willowdale Chapel for over 60 years where she was known as a “Prayer Warrior.” Her strong love and faith in God inspired countless people to invite Jesus into their hearts.  Ruth was a truly amazing woman, wife, mother, and grandmother who loved her family and friends with all her heart. She always put God and others first before herself and touched so many lives with her grace and compassionate caring nature. Ruth was very close and devoted to her family with whom she shared immeasurable special occasions, while also being a big part of everyone’s daily lives.

Ruth very much enjoyed gardening, cooking, good food, and traveling. She also enjoyed volunteering and being involved with her favorite organizations such as Young Life of Chester County, Spanish Health Ministry, Child Evangelism of Chester County, Teen Haven, and Mission Aviation Fellowship.

Ruth is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Marcia and Bernie Dickerson, Joe’s son and wife, James and Jan Codichini, grandchildren, Celeste, Karen, Cynthia, Joseph III, and Jay, as well as her great-grandchildren, Xander, Neve, Noah, Ryan, Kennedy, Grey, and Leila.

You may visit with Ruth’s family from 9:30 to 11: a.m. on Monday, Nov. 1, at the  Willowdale Chapel, 675 Unionville Road, Kennett Square. Her funeral service will follow at 11. Burial will be at the Union Hill Cemetery in Kennett Square.

Contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to Southern Chester County Young Life, P.O. Box 301, Atglen, PA 19310, Attn: Tukker Zimmerman or go to giving.younglife.org\sccyl
