Area businesses are stepping up to provide a wide array of options for a covid-safe celebration of Valentine’s Day. Restaurants are operating below capacity for safe dining and many have upped their take-out options for those preferring to savor a decadent meal at home. Area wineries have both in-person and take-out options and sweet treats abound at area bakeries and chocolatiers.

Arugula Ristorante Italiano is offering a takeout or dine-in fixed price three-course dinner for $85 to $90. The special menu is available Feb 12-14. arugulachaddsford.com

Brandywine Prime offers a cook at home dinner for two, order by Feb 7 and pick up on Feb 13 or 14. The dinner includes starters, a main course, sides, and dessert and is priced at $80 - $100 depending on the main course selected. www.brandywineprime.com

Chadds Ford Tavern is offering a four-course dinner for two that can be ordered and eaten on site (reservations required) or taken home for a more intimate meal. Priced at $120 per couple and available Feb 12-14, the restaurant recommends calling earlier in the day to schedule take-out meals. www.thecftavern.com/menus/

Tasting Events

Chadds Ford Winery offers an in-person tasting featuring sweet and savory selections from three local businesses including Éclat Chocolate, Birchrun Hills Farm, and Herman’s Coffee. They also offer an at-home tasting option with three wines paired with two sets of four chocolates. www.chaddsford.com.

Galer Estate Vineyard & Winery has three options available. At the vineyard, wine and chocolate pairings for Feb 12- 14, reservations required. Galer’s Valentine’s Date Night Bundle of local goods, including cheeses, meats, chocolate and Galer Estate wine can be enjoyed on site or picked up to go. For a unique gift, Galer is offering “Adopt a Vine for your Valentine". The $100 fee enables you to watch your vine during the growing season, from buds to grape harvest to tasting the wine in your glass! Whole Foods has their double dozen roses on sale and chocolate-covered strawberries are also available to mark the occasion.
