BRM closing for four months

Renovations to close BRM until June.

In a press release issued Friday, Feb. 12, the Brandywine River Museum of Art announced it will close for renovations beginning Monday, Feb.15. The closure will allow time for the museum to upgrade its second and third-floor facilities.

“Upgrades include a complete refurbishment of the restrooms, making them fully ADA accessible, as well as switching their current location with the second floor Strawbridge Gallery,” the release said.

Additionally, new state of the art lighting, HVAC, and fire suppression systems will be installed.

The Museum will be reopening to the public in June with its new special exhibition, Ralston Crawford: Air & Space & War. During its time of closure, the Museum will continue to offer a full slate of virtual programming through its “Brandywine at Home” initiative: www.brandywine.org/at-home

Road report for Feb. 13 to Feb. 19

PennDOT has announced the following road projects, which are weather-dependent and could affect drivers in the greater Chadds Ford area during the week of Feb. 13 to Feb. 19. Motorists are urged to allow extra time if they are traveling through one of the construction zones. Work schedules are subject to change.

There will be lane closures on Unionville Road, between Street and Willow Green roads in Kennett Township from Feb. 15 to 19 because of aerial line work.

Utility work on Gay Street, between Walnut and New streets in West Chester, will weekday cause lane closures through Feb. 19.

Expect lane closures along Foulk Road in Bethel Township through March 26 for utility installation.

Guiderail work will force daytime lane closures Sundays to Fridays along Route 1 between the Chester and Montgomery County lines through February 28.

Construction to replace the culverts that carry Green Valley Road over a tributary of West Brandywine Creek and over Green Valley Creek in Newlin Township is expected to run through Feb. 26. Due to the nature of construction, Green Valley Road will be closed and detoured 24/7 between Powell Road and Brandywine Creek Road through the completion of the project. During the closure, Green Valley Road motorists will be directed to use Brandywine Creek Road and Powell Road. Local access will be maintained up to the construction zone.
