Anthony “Tony” Carbone of Garnet Valley

Anthony "Tony" Carbone, 89, of Garnet Valley, died peacefully at home with his wife by his side on May 28. Born in Belleville, N.J., Tony has resided for the past 19 years in Garnet Valley, previously residing in Media and Wilmington.

As an operations manager, he worked for ADEC & ESCO in Aston, for more than 40 years, retiring in 2000. Tony enjoyed spending time at his shore house in Ocean City, NJ. He also held his pilot’s license for small planes. His hobbies included making and flying remote-controlled model planes, gardening, cooking, woodworking and home improvements. A veteran of the Air Force, he was a member of the American Legion, Post 951 in Ogden.

He is preceded in death by parents, Raffale "Ralph" and Angelina Gentile Carbone, one son, Daniel Carbone and a brother, Ralph Carbone. Tony is survived by his wife of 39 years, Rose H. McLaren Carbone, four children; Lynda Danovitz, Russell Carbone, Karen Leach and Christopher (Charlotte Watts) Carbone, sister, Violet Carbone, brother in law Nelson (Joyce) McLaren, four grandchildren, Gabriella, Diana, Jake and Dylan and three great-grandchildren, Violet, Samuel and Grant, numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, June 10, 11 a.m. at Concord Liberty Presbyterian Church, 256 Bethel Road, Glen Mills. Interment will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to either:  St. Jude Children’s Hospital (www.stjude.org) or Concord Liberty Presbyterian Church, 256 Bethel Road, Glen Mills.
