Bernard F. Murray of Chadds Ford

Bernard F. “Buddy” Murray, 84, of Chadds Ford, formerly of Aldan, died Wednesday, May 1.

Born to John & Mary Murray in Philadelphia, Buddy has resided the past 3 years in Chadds Ford, previously residing 40 years in Aldan. He served in the Coast Guard after high school. Buddy retired from Conrail R.R. in 1998 after 40 years of service.

After his retirement, Buddy enjoyed bartending on the weekends at Henny’s in Stone Harbor, and Carney’s and Peter Shields, both in Cape May, N.J. He enjoyed setting up and running trips to Ireland and cruises to Bermuda.

Buddy is preceded in death by three siblings, John Murray, Elizabeth “Betty” O’Donnell and Kathleen Buecheler. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Miriam E. Murray (nee Diem), a daughter, Maryann Vaughn and her husband Patrick, and two grandchildren, Patrick and Grace Vaughn.

A viewing will be held on Sunday evening, 7-9 p.m. at the Pagano Funeral Home, 3711 Foulk Rd. Garnet Valley, and on Monday, a viewing will be held at St. Cornelius Catholic Church, 160 Ridge Rd., Chadds Ford, PA from 9-9:45 a.m. followed by a 10 a.m. mass. Interment S.S. Peter & Paul Cemetery, Springfield, PA. Donations in his memory may be made to the Girard College (www.girardcollege.edu).

Elsie M. Lewis of West Grove

Elsie M. Lewis, 76, of West Grove, formerly of Kennett Square, died Tuesday, April 30. She was the wife of Donald F. Lewis, with whom she shared 59 years of marriage.

Born in West Chester, she was the daughter of the late James P. May and the late Ada Schukraft May.

Elsie was a homemaker. She enjoyed reading, gardening, family gatherings and going on vacation to Hilton Head and Florida. She was a very loving, caring and nurturing person who was devoted to her family. She enjoyed being with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by one son, Donald F. Lewis Jr. (Beverly) of Avondale; four daughters, Teresa L. Ledezma (Juan) of Kennett Square, Diane L. Plummer (John) of Kennett Square, Kathy J. Trautman (Daniel) of Lincoln University, and Millie L. Tyler (John) of Harleysville; five sisters, Dorothy Russell, Barbara May, Kathleen Dixon, Evella Linderman and Mary Sadone; two brothers, Edward May and James May; 13 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

You are invited to visit with her family and friends from 10 a.m. to noon on Thursday morning, May 9, at the Kuzo Funeral Home, 250 West State Street, Kennett Square. Her funeral service will follow at noon. Burial will be held privately.

Linda Elaine Parker

Linda Elaine Parker, 71, died at her residence on April 30. She was the wife of Joel Ross Parker with whom she shared 52 years of marriage

Born in West Chester, she was the daughter of the late Carol “Bun” Daddezio and the late Maurice “Mutt” Daddezio.

Linda was a hairdresser for over 50 years. Working from her home, she enjoyed spending time with her clients and took great pride in her work. Linda loved country music and dancing; especially when her husband was part of the band.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son, Joel M. Parker and his wife Angela; her granddaughter Emily A. Parker; her sister, Marcella Stewart; and her brother, James Wickline and his wife Gail (all of Toughkenamon) and nieces and nephews.

You are invited to visit with her family and friends from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 7, at St. Gabriel of the Sorrowful Mother Church,  8910 Gap Newport Pike (Route 41), Avondale. Her funeral mass will follow at 12:30. Interment will be at St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Route 82, Kennett Square.
