Public meeting on U-CFSD planning

The Unionville-Chadds Ford School District will hold a community conversation on its Long-Range Facilities Plan on Dec. 10 at 6:30 p.m. in the high school cafeteria.

During the meeting, the district will present an overview of the Long-Range Facilities Plan, after which attendees will break out into small groups to discuss different aspects of the plan. Finally, attendees will have an opportunity to ask questions and provide feedback to administrators.

“We feel it is critical to obtain meaningful input from the UCFSD community before the plan is finalized. Only with your participation can we ensure that this plan truly reflects our community,” said a district-wide email. “Long-range planning allows the district to focus on the highest priorities in order to best meet the safety and instructional needs of our students,” the mail continued.

The district has been working on the plan to address perceived needs for buildings and grounds. An initial draft of the plan received criticism because of a possible cost of $10 million. However, that has been scaled down

Strategic planning is a hallmark of the district's approach to effective governance, responsible stewardship, and excellence in education. The district develops long-range strategic plans in many areas including curriculum, technology, facilities/grounds, and our comprehensive plan.

The meeting is expected to last about two hours.
