• The coffee isn’t ready, but the beans are roasting. Chadds, a new coffee shop soon to open in the Barn Shops, was giving a hint of what’s to come last Saturday during an open house at the Chadds Ford landmark. Pam Lau, formerly of Talula’s Table, said she’ll be baking scones and other sweet treats once the shop officially opens at the end of July. She said the sweets will offer a contrast to the Romano’s Original Stromboli that will also be available. Chadds is scheduled to open at the end of July.

• The wheels are rolling to make Kennett Square more welcoming to pedestrians and bicyclists. Members of Bike Kennett cut the ribbon on some new bike racks in the borough and a new tool station. The racks are at the library. The tool station is at Anchor Life and Fitness Center on Broad Street. The business donated the station that includes an air pump and tools for minor repairs. Bike Kennett also gave out bicycle safety helmets to younger riders during a Third Thursday event in Kennett.

• Chadds Ford Township supervisors will not have a regular meeting in July. That meeting would have been on July 3 but that session was canceled. The board will have its work session at 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 25.

• The Rachel Kohl Library is offering a class in italic calligraphy this summer. Learn italic calligraphy with Pam Bennett, a member of the Philadelphia Calligraphers' Society, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on July 10. Register at the library or call 610-358-3445 ext. 2. Please bring your own ruler and pencil.

• The Heather Pierson Trio is coming to the Friends Folk Club on Friday, July 13. Heather Pierson is an award-winning pianist, multi-genre singer/songwriter, arranger, bandleader, and performer. Tickets are $15 and will be available at the door. Children 12 and under are free. Doors open at 7 p.m., and concert will start at 7:30. The concert will be held at St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church 116 Lancaster Pike Oxford, PA 19363. Attendees are asked to bring nonperishable food items which will be given to the local area food cupboards.
