Patricia Cowie Boyd of Jennersville, formerly of Villanova

Patricia Cowie Boyd, 94, of Jennersville, formerly of
Villanova, died Nov. 5, at her residence at Jenner’s Pond.

She was born Nov. 12, 1916 in Burlington, N.J. to the late
Cora Graf Cowie and Louis James Cowie.

She was an alumnus of the University of Pennsylvania
following which she married her first husband, Elmer Gerhardt Klapper with whom
she had three children. She took the traditional post WWII role of wife and
mother until the accidental death of her husband necessitated a transition to
working single mother. Her exceptional achievement was to make it possible for
her children to continue to be raised in the stable environment of the family’s
home by an effort of quiet courage and persistence to overcome all obstacles.

She later married Howard Boyd in 1966 and welcomed a
stepson, Richard Boyd, and a stepdaughter, Betty Ann, into her family.

She loved landscaping, gardening and flowers and was a
founding member of the Villanova Garden Club. She exhibited at the Philadelphia
Flower Show and won several awards for her arrangements. She also arranged
flowers to be delivered to patients in hospitals and participated with
deliveries for Meals on Wheels. She also loved to entertain and was known
for her culinary skills.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, son David
Windwalker (formerly David Bruce Klapper) and her brothers, Dean Cowie and
Louis Cowie.

She is survived by her son, Jeffrey Klapper, daughter Linda
Gubbine, grandchildren

Christopher Klapper, Matthew Klapper, Elizabeth Deutch, Cora
Russell, Caroline Klapper, Kristin Gubbine and Laura Davolos and six great
grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held in the future.
