Harrison G. Travis Sr., 80, of Unionville, died Thursday,
Jan. 13 at the Neighborhood Hospice in West Chester. He was the husband of
Barbara Lynch Travis , whodied in 1994, and with whom he shared 39 years of
marriage.

Born in Long Branch, N.J., he was the
son of the late Harrison G. and Madeline Robinson Travis.

Mr. Travis was a Chemical Engineer for
the DuPont Company in Wilmington, retiring in 1984, after over 35 years of
service.

He was a graduate of Red Bank Catholic
High School. He attended the US Military Academy, where he played Football in
1949-1950, and was a graduate of Notre Dame University.

He served his country with a rank of lieutenant
colonel in the U.S. Air Force, and participated in the Pan American
Olympic game trials for the pentathlon in 1954.

While at Notre Dame, Gerry became
involved with announcing Notre Dame football, which he carried on to Radley Run
Country Club, announcing numerous swim meets throughout the 70s thus garnering
the nickname 'the Voice".

He was a huge Phillies and Eagles
fan.

Pop-pop is survived by one son,
Harrison Gerard Travis, II and his wife Laura Leroy of Newark; two daughters,
Susan McCarthy of Unionville, Kimberly Crossman and her husband Michael
Crossman of Unionville; and seven grandchildren, Conor and Christopher
McCarthy, Ryan, Kate and Tyler Crossman, and Brooke and Chase Travis, along
with two brothers, Dr. Major General Richard T. Travis of Annapolis Md., and
David T. Travis of St. Petersburg, Fla.

You are invited to visit with his
family and friends from 10:30 -11 a.m. on Thursday morning, Jan. 20, at the
Kuzo & Grieco Funeral Home, 250 West State Street, Kennett Square, PA
19348. His Memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers a contribution in
Mr. Travis’s memory, may be made to the Neighborhood Hospice, 400 East Marshall
Street, West Chester, PA 19380 or to the American Heart Association, 1617 JFK
Boulevard, Suite 700, Philadelphia, PA 19103.
