Irene Poe of Kennett Square

Irene Poe, 90, of Kennett Square, died Friday, Dec. 31 at
St. Francis Hospital in Wilmington. She was the wife of Fred W. Poe, with whom
she shared 52 years of marriage.

Born in Ashe County, N. C., she was the daughter of the late
Floyd and Rose Calhoun Carpenter.

Mrs. Poe was a former nurse’s aide at Friends Home in
Kennett Square.

She was a member of the Kennett Square Missionary Baptist
Church and was a past volunteer at Jennersville Regional Hospital.

Mrs. Poe enjoyed traveling, knitting, crocheting, and being
with her family and friends.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter,
Patsy Sexton and her husband Joe of Kennett Square; four grandchildren, Dawn
Thomforde, Kimberly Sexton, Lisa Sexton, and Joy Sexton; three great
grandchildren and one great-great grandson; and by several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by twelve
brothers and sisters.

You are invited to visit with Mrs. Poe’s family and friends
on Thursday, January 6, 2010 from 9 to 10 a.m. at the Kuzo & Grieco Funeral
Home (610-444-4116), 250 W. State St., Kennett Square, PA. Her funeral service
will follow at 10 am. Interment will be in Union Hill Cemetery.

Franklin R. Briley Jr. of Kennett Square

Franklin R. Briley Jr., 57, of Kennett Square, died
Tuesday, Dec. 28, at the Chester County Hospital.

Born in Wilmington, he was the son of Patricia Lafferty
Briley of Kennett Square, and the late Franklin R. Briley, Sr.

He was a former employee of the Kennett Square Post Office.

Frank enjoyed being with his family, especially his nieces
and nephews. He also enjoyed watching baseball and football.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by three brothers,
Stephen Briley of Newark, Bruce Briley of Kennett Square, and Jeff Briley and
his wife Sherry of West Grove; one sister, Sharon M. Cosgrove and her husband
Pat of Kennett Square, five nieces and four nephews.

Service and burial will be private.
