Thomas “Couj” M. Mclaughlin Sr., age
90 of Kennett Square, died Saturday, March 6, at his residence. He was the
husband of Geraldine Davidson McLaughlin, who passed away in 1999, and with
whom he shared 52 years of marriage.
 

Born
in West Chester, he was the son of the late Paul and Frances Fahey McLaughlin.

He
was a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service, serving the east side of
Kennett Square, for 37 years, retiring in 1972. Tom will be remembered by many
people for his gregarious nature.

He
was a member of St. Patrick’s Church and the Kennett Baseball Old Timers
Association.

Tom
was a founding member and long time coach of the St. Patrick’s Teeners baseball
league. He played baseball in the Kennett Community League for many years.

He
served his country during World War II, in the European Theater, as a U.S. Army
MP.

He
is survived by one son, Thomas “Mickey” M. McLaughlin, Jr. and his wife DeDe of
Kennett Square; one daughter-in-law, Kris McLaughlin of Kennett Square; one
sister, Mary Husband of Ashburn, Va.; five grandchildren, Colleen, Kelly, Erin,
P.J. and Megan, and six great-grandchildren.

He
was predeceased by one son, Paul “Gussy” McLaughlin; one daughter, Mary C.
Rhoades and one brother, Wallace “Sax” McLaughlin.

Friends
and relatives are invited to visit with Tom’s family from 7 to 9 p.m. on
Wednesday evening, March 10 and again from 8:15 to 9:15 a.m., Thursday, March
11, at the Kuzo & Grieco Funeral, 250 West State Street, Kennett Square, PA
(610-444-4116). His Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 on Thursday morning,
March 11, at St. Patrick Church, 212 Meredith Street, Kennett Square. Burial
will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Route 82, Kennett Square.
