Kristina Haugland is a Curator of Costume and Textiles at the Philadelphia Museum of Art. The Philadelphia Museum of Art’s Department of Costume and Textiles houses one of the oldest and largest collections of its type in the country.  On Monday, May 20, she will present a free lecture for the Hadley Memorial Fund on 50 Years of Fashion.

Haughland has curated numerous exhibitions for the Museum on diverse topics and assisted with several major fashion exhibitions, including “Best Dressed: 250 Years of Style” in 1997, for which she co-authored the publication. In 2006 she curated an exhibition about Princess Grace’s wedding dress celebrating the 50^th anniversary of her marriage, and she is the author of Grace Kelly: Icon of Style to Royal Bride, published by the Museum and Yale University Press in 2006, and Grace Kelly Style, published by the Victoria and Albert Museum in conjunction with their 2010 exhibition.

After obtaining a B.A. in Art History and working in theatrical costuming, she earned an M.A. in the History of Dress from the Courtauld Institute of Art in London. She is active in the Costume Society of America on the national and regional levels, has taught history of dress at the University of Delaware and Drexel University, and enjoys writing and lecturing, especially on her special interests, underwear and etiquette.
