Arrest made in double homicide

State police said they have arrested 76-year-old Roger Hanks for the murder of his wife and adult daughter. He is charged with two counts of murder in the first degree and other related charges.

Chester County District Attorney Christopher L. de Barrena-Sarobe said in a press release, "The defendant senselessly shot and killed his family because of a basic dispute. It is unfathomable that anyone would react this way.”

There was no information released about the cause or nature of the dispute.

The double shooting took place in the early evening of April 25 in the 200 block of Wiltshire Drive in East Marlborough Township. State police arrived at the house at about 6 p.m. that evening for a report of a shooting. When they arrived, troopers found the victims lying on the ground with gunshot wounds. Life-saving measures were unsuccessful. Hanks was found in the garage and directed to exit outside where he was taken into custody.

Hanks has a preliminary hearing scheduled for May 8.
